Will learn anything other than ship/weapon skills at an abysmal rate. That means Learning (get skill points faster), Engineering (more powergrid, more capacitor, shields), Electronics (electronic warfare, more CPU), Mechanics (armor), and to a lesser extent Drones and Navigation (speed) will suffer.

yes, putting the points into int and mem will make your skill training times better over the life of your character.
The thing to remember is that the attributes have NOTHING AT ALL to do with the realtime performance of your character, only in the time it takes to learn various skills.

Yeah, get SOME Int and Mem on there, oh god. Especially as a Drone-heavy Gallente you'll want SOME memory. In the five available points I'd put say 3 towards Intelligence, 2 toward Memory, then go Jing-ko again.

You don't HAVE to be Gallente to fly Gallente ships. As a "military" type of char, unless you really KNOW you will need it (I really don't see why you would though), try to minimize charisma, and maximize perception and intelligence, with willpower and memory a bit lower but not very low.
With that in mind, the most versatile choices skillpoints-wise are Caldari Achuras (any will do fine, but as a combat char you might want to pick Monk or Stargazer) or even Amarr Khanids (particularly Cyberknights, combat-wise they're almost perfect, right after Achuras).
Amarr Khanid Engineer will yield a very nice support skillpackage for a Gallente pilot, and you can just train Gallente ships and weapons right away... a vast majority of skills in skillpack you get are perfect for Gallente too, and almost no skills you learn are "Amarrish" in nature (I wouldn't call L1 small lasers or Amarr frigate as any significant amount of skillpoints). Extra bonus, you're mere hours away from training Assault Ships, so you can be in one in less than two weeks (frigate L5 will take longest, but at least you have most of the needed support skills already trained to decent levels). _

Minimising charisma is a mistake you will come to regret on fleet operations when aquiring leadership skills. It will also make getting into Command Ships a pain... -- Rgds Mike

Right, because I feel so crippled with my 17.6 charisma and 24.2 "everything elses"... ...when getting ALL the needed Social/Leadership skills for a Nighthawk + good missionrunning takes, oh, say about 1 mil SP tops at 42768 SP/day, compared to "everything else" at 52272 SP/day. Oh, the horror.
You know, not everybody wants nor needs to be the FC, with 10 mil SP in leadership. _

thx akita and Osric Wuscfrea for your input. I think i just might go with the amarr path u suggested akita. Osric is charisma really necessary though from everywhere i read absolutely everything says to keep it low as possible , Since im new it will probably be forever before i get into anything of command ship size anyways.
Thankx guys for everything. You have been big help.

I'd say keep most stats at pretty even levels, with charisma as the lowest attribute. This makes for a balanced char. If you want to make a very specialised char, like an industry alt you can have a different approach to setting the attributes.

Hmmmm ... one thing about Charisma ... I understand (correct me if I'm wrong) that it also helps with Agents. I've run the same mission with two characters, one of which had higher charisma as well as diplomacy while the other had lower charisma. The one with the higher charisma got substantially more ISK for doing the same mission from the same agent.

Being FC and having leadership skills have nothing to do with each other. Agreed though on charisma, it's not worth getting high just because of Command Ships.

It's because of your skills, not because of your charisma.
Oh, and to the OP, caps are bad, mmmkay?

I wouldn't say caps are intrinsically bad; however, they are taken to be shouting, which is best left to those times when it is truly necessary.

Hehehem, you can twist that around any way you like, as "the guy with the fleet commander role, with the Fleet Command skill trained up", "our actual fleet commander, the one screaming on teamspeak now to not jump, the one with the real leadership skills" I merely meant FC = guy with Fleet Command (rank 12 skill) trained _
