I realize it may have been suggested already , but it's a good time to bring this up with the recent ban of an ISK laundering network. Why not create a division of ISD dedicated to hunting down ISK sellers by tracking suspicious transactions ? A team in contact with GMs , who have the clearance to ban the exposed accounts after a quick check of their dirtied wallets. The petition system is clearly unsuitable for this massive issue , you know it doesn't work when a forum thread gets faster results.
Those ISD volunteers could be evemailed reports of suspicious activity , thus freeing a lot of the GMs' time for more useful purposes than answering the same type of petition for the Nth time. ISD volunteers could easily keep the players updated and boost the morale of in-game vigilantes.
A cloaked Polaris frigate that doesn't show up in local is all it takes to record evidence of macro usage. It would allow the banning of elusive macro ratters.
It is , in my opinion , the best way CCP can show their dedication to the game's health.

sarasm aside, the idea of giving the right to ban to an ISD volunteer is undermining the GM's position and also is giving means for abuse. Unless they are CCP employees or under the payroll, no one outside of the CCP office should be given such powers. Ella Nuior Member of RONA Corporation |

I believe he said, the ISD Members would be in touch with the GMs, who would have the power to ban.
I would not want ISD members to be able to look into my wallet transactions... that's just me.

No you don't. CCP makes their own rules, and therefore if they find enough suspicion, they can ban on that alone. They have, and they will continue to.

I wouldn't want access to look at a player's wallet or transaction history. I don't think it's appropriate for a player, even a trusted one, to have that level of access.
The potential for abuse or accusations of same would be too great, I think. Player data and so on like transactions should remain private unless it needs to be reviewed by paid staff who are accountable for their actions.
Just my thoughts.

Indeed, but unless they cover their own asses on this one, every banned farmer could petition and escalate said petition - granted CCP could always just say "screw you" in response to those petitions, but it could be very bad press if they accidentally banned the wrong person. ---------------- Tarminic - 29 million SP in Forum Warfare Originally by: CCP Wrangler Booooo!!! It is not even necessary to have access to wallet info. Even if the ISD volunteers can only do work normal players already do , having an official structure would improve the GMs' efficiency enormously , and help with CCP's PR as well. Right now there is very little a good willed player can do to help fight ISK farming.

Of course, if you actually buy 1 tritanium for 1 billion isk, the person with the cheapest sell order in the station gets the isk. So, if you ever wanted to get someone banned... --- Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail. - Emerson |

When will you people give it up?
CCP will NOT execute any MAJOR action against isk farmers for 1 reason and 1 reason alone.
Isk farmers pay subscription/ buy GTC's just like everyone else. which means $$$ in CCP's pocketbook.
this will NEVER change. stop begging/asking/whining for changes. CCP will never do anything that might damage thier bottom line.

The tools already exist for ordinary pilots to look at the transaction data of mystery individuals, as illustrated by the other thread. The escrow history date that started that thread was not accessed by special right or privelage, it was just somebody snooping at openly accessable records.
Once the new ISD department member has a thread to snoop, they should be able to report it to the GM lead of their team who can then give them transaction register access for the individual under scrutiny and the ISD member can look further, ferreting out the web of involvment.
Only the GM would have final say on account locking.
All of the assets of the banned accounts should then be gathered into a central item pool and 'blocks' sold off at a set fee (sight unseen) to the rest of Eve once a month at the capitals of the various factions or from DED stations.

Majority of farmers use private contracts now, or the several other methods of laundering ISK.
I've already suggested this idea. I called it the Interstellar Revenue Service (IRS)
But, this will probably never happen.

This reminded me of the Communist hunt in the 50's lead by a US Senator. Just emagine all the false accusations flying around and the pandemonium that would happen.
No offense to ISD but I don't think that volunteers would or should ever be allowed to do this level of a task. People would get power hungry and start accusing everybody that shows one hint of ISK selling.
They would follow that logic that if they burned they were not a witch

there should be a division payed by CCP that would track IP , finding where isk seller live, buy a plane ticket and go find him and bash his head into the wall few times telling him that if he does that again, they will comeback and do something worse,
that will surly work

Any account that shows constant ratting or mining 23/7 should be banned as this is the clearest indication of marco use or account sharing. I challange any legitimate player to defend an account that is run in this manner over more than a few days. A legitimate player running their account in this manner 23/7 should be banned on health grounds.

Simply solution then....: Any account can only play the game for 8 hours a day. Either you start at 8 am and play till 4 pm and have to 'rest' the remainder of the day or you spread out your play time during the day so you can continue playing when you're online.
Would get rid of all the afk'ers sitting in station too (yes, I'm one of them )
This would even be a bigger money income for CCP as all the farmers would have to buy 2 extra accounts to be able to run 23/7. Woohoo.... go go go CCP

Edited by: Pseudo Ucksth on 22/10/2007 16:30:18 The problem is that most macro miner petitions filed look something like "OMG THIS MINER WOULDNT RESPOND TO MY LOCAL CHAT THAT MEANS HES A MACROER" which the GMs still have to investigate and are a big waste of time.
The answer? More GMs. I wouldn't think that ISD would want this responsibility when all it would do in the long run is open up ISD to more playerbase abuse than they get already, with more OMGWTFJUMPTOCONCLUSIONS petitions, and more wasting of time.

LOL.
If I awoke one day to find a mysterious 1b in my wallet, I'd simply use it to suicide more farmers. They would only be perpetuating their problems by funding anti-farmer "terrorism" as someone called it the other day.
