Edited by: Sara Kerrigan on 28/02/2004 18:24:58 Edited by: Sara Kerrigan on 28/02/2004 03:44:14 The Frigate Combat Federation (FCF) is created and organized by the PAK pirate corporation. While combat remains illegal in Concord's eyes within the boundaries of empire space, we have set up an area where you can compete in or spectate the best fights in the galaxy! From tournaments to challenges to deathmatches, we have it all! We bring you the best in illegal entertainment!
Event #1 The first event will take place on Saturday, February 28th, at 22:00 GMT (2pm PST). It will be a 2v2 frigate tournament and will be held in a 0.0 system for no sec loss, and it will be your responsibility to show up on time. As this is the first trial run, and to help people realize this isn't just some pirate scam, participation is FREE! In addition there will be prizes. From our own pockets, plus some generous donations, the total now stands at 6mil for the winner and 2mil for 2nd place. Not bad compared to the price of a frig; expect the numbers to climb as more donations come in.
Why should we be trusted? I'd like to think that we've gained some respect for our honesty. Killing a few wee frigates wouldn't be the highlight of our day. We're going to be running weekly illegal events for some fun, and we hope people will be interested in participating.
Who can participate? Anyone is welcome to participate, regardless of race, gender, sec status, corp, alliance, or war status. All hostilities will be considered null during event times. To sign up, just contact me ingame, Sara Kerrigan. As the first will be a 2v2 tournament, let me know your partner's name as well. Please review the full list of rules at the ingame website before signing up.
Spectators Players or reporters may spectate the fights for 50k ISK. Spectators will be required to use a shuttle and stay in their designated area, so as to prevent interfeerence.
For more details on the events, see the FCF website by clicking Here. We'll try to mix things up from week to week, with such competitions as 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, deathmatch, and open challenge. Sponsors and prize donations are always welcome.
If you have any questions, you can post here.

I believe this is the best way to setup a frigate tournament. YOu say be here at this time and that's it, none of this see who's interested stuff or anything like that.
Anyway I will plan on attending, but currently it is just me, I may be able to round up a partner, but most of the peeps I hang with think frigates are for dorks and can't be bothered to mess around with one.
I can pilot all "tech 1" frigates so if someone needs a partner and has a strategy in mind that would involve a specific frigate you can give me a hollar and we'll think of something, my corp also makes all the worthwhile frigates and I think pretty much all are in stock, so I should easily be able to adapt to any potential partners strategies.
ONe thing I wish would happen is if a frigate tournament would become something like a league or like motorsports where you get points and have a season ending champion type thing.

One problem with giving a time and location publically is that we'll get a lot of party-crashing griefers trying to ruin the fun directly, or camp the waypoints; would prefer if people contact me individually for such details. ______________

I think this sounds like a well planned event, Sara, but I'll still offer you a free suggestion that perhaps could make it more complete and attract more spactators: How about having an official bookmaker taking bets at the fights?

Hopefully you'll place odds and accept bets? Or is that for spectators to worry about alone?

Fun was had my all even tho we were sieged by unfriendly allicance forces; everyone got out safe and sound.
Also some betting did take place between the spectators. If we can develop it into a regular league im sure we can setup gambling. (knowing the records of the teams we can make odds ect ect and have loads of fun) ______________

Let me be the first non PAK member to say I had a good time. I think it's pretty obvious I need a better setup next time though. I would love this to become a regular occurance, if not weekly once or twice a month is fine too. If that were to happen we could keep a points system and have a league champion team/pilot.
It's ashame that there is a not a way to allow consenting people to fight one another without losing security status. Because then we have to go to a 0.0 zone where greifers show up.
Once again Fountain takes advantage of a non-combatant group of people proving them to be nothing more than high school bullies, but they must have gotten bored by the time I left cause the gate was clear for me. I realize they may have a thing against PAK, but by participating in the event non-PAK must have been deemed temporary PAK members.

I'll echo the 'well done' to Sara. Nice to get involved with one and despite the lack of planning, it went very well.
Count me in for the next one.
FA - you suck for trying to ruin it. Attacking frigates in battleships? Why don't you turn up in some frigates and actually show how much skill you have instead of gate camping and spoiling everyone's night. *******s. -- Security Director, Draconis Industries. |
