When exploration first came out in I did a bit in 0.0, and recently I was wonderin about doin some more but I'm based out of empire atm.
Is there much exploration to do in empire? Is it as hard, easier, or harder than trying to find exploration sites in 0.0? Is it static and all camped by now, or is it dynamic changing daily.

Its not like i am a expert in in exploring but will try to anwser your question.
From what i can tell there is enough to be found in empire. 0.5 systems turn up better belts then higher sec space (i only search for belts right now). Offcourse the change excist that other people have already found it since your not the only one looking for it.
However in sec space you will ahve the advantage of not being able to be attacked by other players (well you can be attacked but unlikely). Also try doing your exploration in not so populated system wich increase the change of a site being there and being untouched when you get there. However if you find a belt then act fast because you can count on it that other will follow.
As if the sites are static, i really dont think so they seem to be random allthough they may be in the same system the location differs. But i dunno sure about that.
It is a fact that exploration can be very rewarding for those who have the patience for it.

No you see, it isn't. On average explorers make next to nothing. Sure every 5 weeks or something after hitting scan for a few hundred hours then they will get something worth selling, but on average that means you make less than some newbie mining veld in a bantam

Well ive been pulling in around 500mill-2bill a day with exploration over the last week or so with about 10hrs total. One of my corpies and i are having a race to see how much we can get by the weeks finish hes currently winning on 9 bill and im trailing on 4 bill due to some real life stuff. i only scan for maybe 1-2hrs a day.
Admittly i am in 0.0 scanning but the areas i scan arnt usualy camped and im not even in my home region. ive found NPC regions a little better then sov populated systems

Exploration sites are random. Just go to a system and drop your multispec. As far as rewards for sites in high sec: crap imho. It's just like most parts of the game, the higher the risk the higher the reward. I was in a 0.4 system last night and found a mag site. Managed to get about 110 rig components (7 cans to salvage or analyze). I openned all the cans but 2 were empty. I have found Omber belts in high sec systems.
On the other hand in 0.0 I have had much better luck finding sites with multiple BPCs for data interfaces and data tuner interfaces and enough components to build at least a few of each. If you get lucky you may land a BPC for a ship data interface. Just look on contracts to see the current pricing. Since you have already done sites in 0.0 you will be very disappointed with high sec sites for the most part.

Edited by: Echon on 23/10/2007 20:14:53 Edited by: Echon on 23/10/2007 20:14:16 Exploration in empire is usually not that rewarding. Low-sec has some good stuff.
Of course, you may get lucky like I was yesterday and find a gravimetric site in 0.7 that spawns a commander who drops a slave implant among other things.

Let me elaborate on the first comment...
It is a fact that exploration can be very rewarding for those who have the patience and skills for it, and know how to outfit their ships and place their probes so they get hits in a reasonable amount of time.
As for empire exploration.. generally not worth it. You're competing against a whole crapload of people for the same sites. Lowsec is generally very nice though, most people are scared ****less of lowsec for some strange reason.

Being scared shitless of lowsec is a good policy as far as I'm concerned. I still explore there. |

A faction large tower or a ship data interface each day? Using just 2 hours? You need to be nerfed
