Edited by: Jhered Stern on 25/02/2004 03:29:12 CommuniquÚ FER-03.01 From: The Imperial Public Relations and Diplomatic Services Bureau concerning the Liberation of Fade Continued.
To: The General Public of Eve.
ôAlas, the foe tasks me and I shall have himàö (Moby ****)
ôWhen you plunder a district, divide the wealth among your troops. When you enlarge your territory, divide the profits. Take control of the strategic balance of power and move. The one who first understands the tactics of the circuitous and the direct will be victorious. This is the strategy for military combatö (Sun Tzu Art of War).
The Emperor stood on the balcony of the Emerald Throne Room over looking the he black tower known as the Black Oubliette and contemplated the news his steward had just delivered. Grand Admiral Hupa had taken C4C-Z4 again. Admiral Jhered Stern had relayed the message to the Intelligence Bureau, which immediately routed it to the Imperial Head Steward who now stood next to him. What concerned the Emperor however, was not the safety of the fleet; he had every confidence in Admiral Hupas ability to vanquish his enemies. No, this time there was something different, this time there they had not come into a system as pirates raiding and plundering, but a full military force bent on the liberation of an oppressed people. The Emperor had chosen sides and would have to stand on this decision what ever the cost. He knew that if he did not follow through on this, no one in Eve would ever trust him. He turned to his steward and said ôSend this communiquÚ to Admiral Hupa; well done my Son I am please with your victory. Understand this however; we must make sure that this new Free Alliance can secure itself from further aggression. Hold the system for as long as you must and fear not for the safety of the Empire. Grand Admiral Bandit24 has been placed in charge of the Home Fleet and has mobilized our reserves into a tight defense force. You must concentrate on the transition of the new government in Fade and train their Navy to defend it-self. Once this task is complete you may return home. This is my will and it will be done.ö With that the steward hastened to deliver the message. The Emperor turned to the holomessage and viewed it once more. Then he summoned the Royal Chamberlain and ordered him ôDeliver this holomessage to JheredÆs PR department. Make sure it gets out to the publicö. When the Chamberlain departed the Emperor turned back to the Black Oubliette and contemplated the fate of the people of Fade.

From: The Imperial Public Relations and Diplomatic Services Bureau.
To: The Eve General Public (specifically those with slow internet connections)
We apologize for the size of the latest holomessage the Intelligence service did not have time to properly compress the message or recode it to a different format. In order to assure that our messages are dispatched in an orderly and efficient manner the Emperor has called for the formation of a special multimedia department dedicated to delivering quality reports to the public. Again we were pressed for time and are sorry for the inconvenience.
This is the will of the Emperor and it will be done.

Just a few thoraxs blown up, the darwin award bit was funny but you didnt actually get to see what happened. Interesting choice of music throughout, cant say it went with the movie but hey. Oh and "The legendary Christoper Xen", I had to laugh at that.
One thing I did like lots was the scorp textures, where did they come from?

its his first movie and as far as i know, the first time he used fraps in combat, so as far as video quality, i'm quite impressed - but i agree about the soundtrack! hehe

The main fleet battle wasn't captured on video considering we were outnumbered 38 vs. 9. Fraps prolly wouldn't be the best thing when ur dealing with a foe that outnumbers you 3:1 . . . but it gets some nice footage of the "mop-up" afterward
Iceblock, where's your video? I have yet to see you make one.

It started very good...bad music followed. People mostly forget that sound is 50% of the fascination of a film. Bad music = bad film. Remix it! Richard Wagner or Vivaldi would be nice

On the whole I have to agree that for his first movie attempt this was rather nice. Keep in mind that although the music was rather different it appeals to players of different genres. I think what Chris was reaching for here was the rehash of the ôMarians Turkey Shootö of WWII. Outnumbered by and enemy force that had the potential to defeat our forces but due to lack of campaign experience was unable to rally a decent offence the battle was a turkey shoot.
Chris nice job your first time out. Keep up the good work. The Emperor expects this of you.
One thing we need to consider is to convert the file to mpeg format after editing. This will reduce the size of the file and improve the download quality.
Those of you who offered constructive criticism, we thank you.
Jhered Out!

Hey Chris!
I liked it... I like the tribute to Yello... one of my favorite 80's bands.
Third of June, as well as The Race, are other excellent Yello tunes...
Kudos man! If only I had logged on a half hour earlier, I could have joined you... :-(

I really tried to do the fleet battle 38-9, but even on lowest detail, having a station in between the fleets frame rate without FRAPs my frame rates was 4-7. I did take one try when it got a little bit lighter and that was a serious mistake that had i not been as experianced, I would have lost the scorp.
