Keep the carrier and MoM's control abilities as they are. 1. Reduce deployed fighter damage by 50%
2. Increase deployed fighter damage by 25% for each gang member directly under the carrier pilot's leadership. Have squad commanders count double, so each wing commander and squad commander could receive a full 0.5*2.5=1.25x bonus. Possibly, make it so that only MoMs in WC slots would have SCs count double.
3. Give carriers and MoMs flagship bonuses like the field and fleet command ships respectively. Add these in as class bonuses, as I don't think we can afford to take away any of the existing bonuses.
There. Carriers get a damage nerf when solo, get a small boost when in gang, and we've provided an effective limit to the number of fighter-deploying carriers in a gang. All using the existing fleet mechanism.

In order to deploy more than 5 fighter, carrier and moms would have to enter a "siege" mode pretty similar to dreads. It would be 10 minutes for carriers and only 1 minute for moms (with reduced cost etc, so they have an advantage).
This siege would make them invulnerable to EW but also to remote repping. That would make them pretty even to dreads (which then would be able to really mess carrier up, because they cant just warp away or move so dreads wont really hit them good) and reduce the danger of just putting as much carriers as possible on the field, because a group of dreads could roundhousekick them back to Jita.

Only thing i dislike about that suggestion is that dreads basically pwn carriers.. not sure if that's a good thing honestly. =/
Atm carriers vs dreads is a deadlock.

Btw, I think most posters seem to be confused by what the dev's had posted..
They want to make carriers dependent on support.
1 recon warping in 5 carriers+ MS is not considered "having" support - Which is actually happening a lot now. (unfortunately?)
This is partly why i believe nerfing the cyno field is actually the best and simplest solution.. Just make it so that the ship that jumps is also locked down with the ship that created the cyno field.

How about, we all just assign our fighters to a dread buddy or two? Just make sure you trust the guy with your drones, or make him pay up if he loses them. I really dont see the issue, it just gives me more time to manage repping people and keeping my 5 fighters alive. If you are really that selfish you could exclusively rep the guy you give your drones to and problem solved. Beets, you're among friends. |
