I genuinely and without rancor wonder how CCP failed to foresee the eventual proliferation of supercapitals.
If I were betting, I'd bet that the possibility quite simply didn't occur to them. It's sort of like that "Tell a lie so huge GÇö so outrageous GÇö that people don't even think to question it" thing, except that in this case it was a huge pile of minerals, effort and skill training.
But that stuff accumulates over time. And once something becomes well established in EVE, changing it significantly without angering thousands of people is... well, it's close to impossible. Not to nitpick. But I would hardly characterize Goonswarm as "Noob Friendly" Unless you call ganking them and scamming them a friendly act....

Altho they dont bother with scamming newbs.. since they ussually dont have assets to game for.. They prey on greed and partially stupid people .. who have several bills in assets at least. |

Has anyone ever tried to spider Super carriers with transfer arrays?
Hel or Wyvern would be better. Get 3 and fill the high slots with Capital transfers, add rigs for that too. The surplus cap should add Capital shield boosters and keep cap stability. Being that there aren't any capital destabs, add in some rechargers you should be able to make a cap stab regen tank that would giggle at a doomsday, no?
If I get on a mirror with build speeds I will try it with a Nyx and 2 Aeon but I know shield boost 300% of what armor reps and I can't fly Hel or Wyvern
Capital Energy Emissions systems 5
Capital Murky Energy Transmitter 1 X 6 Large Egress Port Maximizer 2 X 3
Should let you pull in 11,040 cap every 10 seconds
That would let you run 5 Capital boosters with around a quarter million regen a minute. More with boosts, implants and other factors. In addition to fielding dps. |

Last I checked, Goons ran huge recruitment drives to attract newbies to the game, fed them free ships and mentoring, and probably have a higher retention than any other method or recruitment to the game.
How are they not newbie friendly?
Now, a "Noob" is someone who makes beginner mistakes well after the time when they should know better, then shits on the people who took advantage of those mistakes. There's no reason to be Noob Friendly anywhere. Single-Shard, Player Driven Sandbox.

here's how you fix supercapital blob:
given that Titans "are so massive they are capable of disrupting the tides of planets", CCP should introduce a new kind of anomaly.
when too many supercapitals and titans get together in one system, a random timer should start. the length of timer should depend on the number of the ships in the system, the more ships, the shorter the timer. A size of the system might also be taken into account when calculating the timer.
once that timer expires, a huge wormhole should open and suck all supers and titans in, throwing them out into different parts of Eden. This may or may not include the ships that have been logged off in that system.
This anomaly should exist in the system for the next 24hrs, meaning that any ships over certain mass trying to jump into the system will be thrown out into a random system.
If this system was implemented, FCs would think 10 times about deploying the blobs if they know that some of their fleet might end up in hostile systems without any support.
This should fix the current blob situation, without the need to nerf the ships themselves. |

Nothing wrong then with super caps then, so we can stop bitching because its just evolution of warfare. Just over a hundred years ago most nation's military consisted of guys riding horseback shooting guns,, then they went to mechanized warfare firing semi/full automatics rifles 3/4s of a century ago, now guys riding tanks/choppers shooting cannon rounds from a mile or several Kilometers to several hundred if not thousands of kilometers if its a cruise missile. And the next step in warfare seems to be cyberspace.
And you guys are bitching cap fleets are a problem because one side can mass produce them? Seems more like you are failing to keep up, you do relize that as they produce more and "dig in, reinforce their position" in nullsec its actually your fault. Because your didn't evolve with the war, you don't have the "assests" to counter them so when you show up with a fleet of T1 BS and get your ass handed back, it has got to be the othersides fault...amirite?
One side basicly has all the numbers giving them the better advantage, but since you didn't act sooner you have to whine to CCP to fix your problem.
Before you say, it doesn't make sense and I am babbling about nothing...If you were in the positision of the other side that you are whining about needing nerfed...wouldn't you also produce the best ship possible in massive numbers if given the oppertunity? I bet you would, regardless of the fact that CCP says "Yeah, they were supposed to be in small numbers" and the fact that those expensive ships each means 1 additional account to hold them since they can't dock means there is no problem for CCP, just that its your problem you can't evolve to build your own cap ships. |
