This weekend they go to "war". "War" because it will be full of rules.
But before the war starts, PvP happened in lowsec, and the Uni got upset.
And remember, when Kelduum is running for CSM7, when he mentions that he likes PvP, bear in mind that he doesn't engage in any PvP (he rarely leaves station) and that he will lobby for a capture-the-flag game as a replacement for highsec wars.

The full list of 'rules', such as they are, as Poetic hasn't approved my comment to his blog yet:
- No intentional podding. But it will probably happen anyway.
- Home systems are off limits, because station camping is boring.
(Both of which were suggested by RvB when they approached us about the war, although we decided against a proposed limit on hull sizes.)
And who knows, there may have been surprise pew-pew from RvB on purpose... LoSec isn't safe, and blues can fire, they just don't. Valuable lesson perhaps for the guys there maybe?
FYI, I do have a PvP alt, in fact maybe its someone in RvB, or The 0rphanage, or PL? Nobody knows!!!!!!111oneoneeleven.
Finally, in made-up news, I now want to replace wardecs with a game of tic-tac-toe, however in actual confirmed and not made-up news, I do advocate the distribution of Cheez-Its to the UK.

Regardless - this an attempt to create drama where there is none. All types of corps set people blue. And all types of corps get shot by blues. And in every single instance where I have seen someone get killed by blues, much anger on both the individual and corporate level always follows. Its been the casus belli on many occasions. This is not something that is unique to Uni.
What you are saying is: "Someone is angry for getting shot by blues! News at 11."
Its not news - its an expected outcome for any entity in Eve.
Why dont you use your proclivity for writing to bring attention to useful subjects that are worthy of discussion and/or change. I suggest faction warfare missions and Tier 1 battlecruisers as posibble subjects.

Nope, its still possible. Despite the 1 BN ISK bill, we got wardecced back in December. Their three members didn't turn up after the first couple of days, but it proved its very much possible.

Mmm but the thing is your corp/alliance are pretty much "undeccable" due to dec shields. This isn't new and according to a fairly impeccable source the "dec shields" and stuff ARE more or less uniquely Eve-Uni generated.
I don't have a problem with avoiding stupid war-decs but you (and your student alts) broke the wardec system. Yes it was crap but you (Eve-Uni) broke it. Had any other alliance done what you did with alts then they would have been permabanned.
So enjoy your meaningless "war". Frankly times must be pretty crap for RvB if they are contemplating fighting with you and your additional rules. Go **** yourself. |

Continue focusing on more productive things to write about that will actually enlighten readers rather than this nonsense. The amount of negative energy he embodies as he writes this stuff is sad. A little misleading, but that's to be expected from EN24.
I'd like to highlight that the original idea for this event came from RvB. They're not "doing us a favour", we both wanted to get together to have some fights. I would say that the 300+ ships destroyed since the event began are proof that we have been engaging in those fights, even if some of our FCs are overly cautious about the whole thing.
So far the event has been good fun and our students are learning a huge amount from it. I'm sure there'll be more great engagements over the weekend, once participation is up.

I mean, despite our griping here and there about the pacing of the war not being as quick as we would like (Hey, we do live 2 jumps from each other, not having PVP ever few minutes feels slow), ships do indeed explode as verified by killboards.

Actually, listening to the "trolls" is likely what made them warp into you guys, initiate the fight. Otherwise, you'd have Day One all over again, where they blueballed you for six hours until YOU initiated.

Oh yeah. I'll try to locate it. Basically he calls for a goals-based system, with the suggestion that there be structures that must be captured/held/destroyed, at which point a winner is declared.
They kinda already have that now, if people want to own/shoot at them. POSes. Except the Uni is really quite afraid of getting its POS blown up (they have a number of researchers/industrialists who earn most of their ISK for the POS.)
He also talks a lot of about honour and war. Apparently he's still stuck with the idea of wars being contested like the Battle of Waterloo.
