So I jump into low-sec for a mission, pirates on the gate. I ask for a ransom as soon as they engage. They take me down pretty quick and I am asking for ransom rather desperately in local, about partway through armour and no sign of stopping I open a private convo and type in my request for a ransom, they accept and offer me 80m, they had shown no signs of stopping so I had typed in a 100m ransom offer, and right as I hit enter they offered 80m. I transfer 80m and they pop me saying "should have payed the 100m". I get no refund. This is not a straight up ransom dishonour but they really gave me no chance to pay the rest and it looked like they were going to pop me anyways. So, letting you guys know, save your money when dealing with these guys or pay at your own risk.

If you're going to warn about pirates not playing 'fair' with a ransom, you might want to mention names or a corp. As it stands, you're crying about pirates in general. (Not a good way to win friends amongst those who Yarr)
Most pirates who take a moment to think it through have a vested interest in honoring ransoms, just to keep the ransoms coming instead of having to take the chance on whatever goodies drop from the wreckage.

For the record... you're supposed to try to go UNDER the said ransom, not over it. And if you do, don't try to weasel out of the higher price... you put it on the table and if you try to take it back someone's gonna stab your hand with a fork

If someone says "I'll give you 100 mil to stop killing me"
I would say back "gimme 150 mil and i will stop"
Always let the killers name the ransom, sometimes it will be lower
then your willing to pay.

Never should have entered low-sec my friend. There's this thing called the map, which you can use to see the number of pod kills and ship kills in the last hour. On top of this, it can show you jumps per hour, and the number of active pilots in the last 30 minutes. If any of these numbers is high, then there is a risk of the gate being camped. At the very least, you should scout out the other side of the gate with a shuttle or an alt.

Even if you underpaid if they knew it was for the ransom and still blew him up give him back the 80m. otherwise it's just lame.
edit: in general people should avoid paying people who do things like this. It really just messes up other people. there's a clear and defined policy really. keep it simple.
