When you come to the forums to whine about a valid mechanic of the game like, say, can flipping and ore theft, you upset the regular players/addicts in the community.
Here's why: 1. We've heard your concern before.
Cans, for instance: They've changed the way cans work (at least) twice now. Cans are perfect. Leave them alone. If you don't want your ore stolen, learn how the mechanic works and put it in a secure can or use a hauler like everyone else.
2. If you whine hard enough, CCP will ruin the game for everyone else in favor of new players. They've been doing it for years.
...And the player base doesn't speak up, because they are either too busy quitting or adapting to the (changed) mechanic, as you should have done in the first place.
3. We don't respect you. The rest of us have adapted or are expected to adapt to whatever comes our way.Yes, even including a nerf.
... But we don't want to. In fact, there are only so many bad nerfs a playerbase can take before you start to lose the good ones. I've been playing since beta and I've seen the world of Eve change so many times I can't count them all. (You think Jita is bad? You're a little late to the party. Yulai SUCKED.)
The nano nerf is a perfect example of a group of people who didn't understand how to adapt and whined about it until things changed. I didn't like nanophoons either, but I found a great way to combat them. Now you've ruined both the feeling that comes with having a 1up on someone AND the gameplay that provides. Nanos were fun. Now they are useless.
4. What your suggesting usually sucks. Badly.
The only reason you think Carriers are too powerful is because you've never flown one. End of story.
5. By complaining, you're only telling us that you lack creative problem solving skills.
...Get used to being duped, scammed, and dumped on by real life. You need to work on those creative problem solving skills or you'll be in your mom's basement playing Eve for the rest of your life. Unfortunately for you, people in real life don't adjust the laws of physics or the social mechanics for you because you complain about them. Chicago is a busy place and I don't like sitting in traffic for 3 hours, but if you want/need to go there, it's all part of the deal.
There. There's my whine for the day. Nerf yourself. Not the game.

Posting in this elaborate, elitist forum whine about whining.
Look, the one thing you're seriously overlooking is that new players have a fresh perspective and can see some of the glaring problems in Eve that perhaps you have put up with. Changes (don't label them all nerfs) that result from valid community discussion are what singles out Eve from other games where content and mechanics are inflicted on you. Long may it continue.
If you're point is to stop people making the 100th "OMGZ JITA LAGZ" thread of the week then be more selective in your forum reading approach. Whine threads about whines are just as bad. --

Thread winner.
OP, just because you're nber 1337 and have been around since the beta doesn't mean you're right. Simply, you've lost perspective. You've been sitting in the water for so long you've failed to realize that it's approaching the boiling point. Did you know there are actually people out there who say there is nothing wrong with the EVE client GUI? Really, I'm not joking. --

While it may be an elaborate, elitist whine about whining, it's still valid.
There's no such thing as a "fresh perspective" from someone who doesn't know what they are talking about. Something that's JUST BEEN CHANGED because of whining is not something that needs a "Fresh perspective". It was fine before. Then they broke it. Now they want it MORE BROKEN.
What the hell, man? Eve is supposed to be hard. It's not supposed to be something you can just get right into and start shooting.
New players seem to be taking off a bit more than they can chew. I've gotten friends into eve, and they've never complained. When someone nanophoons them, they say "awesome. I need one of those! I cant wait!" instead of "OMFG ILL KILL YOU YOU VIOLENCED MAH BOAT!"
So there's the dilemma. Do you pander to new accounts, or entice people (even trials) to keep the ones they have? It's not about game mechanics, it's about social skills.

1. I'm not uber. I'm marginal *at best*. I do have perspective. And no. Snake is not my original character.
2. There are MANY valid problems. I'm not denying that. The GUI sucks. Framerates are horrid. The map is broken. We all liked the blue map better. Ambulation is an "extra". The list goes on. I'm well aware of what's broken and what is not. I work around them and know the devs know they are there. I'd rather they spend more time fixing something than nerfing cans, caps, whathaveyou.

Don't know where you fly your internet spaceship, but where I fly mine... crows can still top 10-11km/s and wtfpwn ibis's faster than you can hit the reply button and type in two lines of gibberish.
Game balance is a crucial element to all mmogs. If you feel game balance isn't quite right then make a constructive thread to argue your points. Make a valid argument or suggestion for change and a Dev might even incorporate it into Eve.

Let me ask you a question: Do you have any affiliation with the AARP?
I don't know what's worse: that you typed that out, or that you actually posted it. No, extreme points are not considered valid. You have taken the position of being deadset against any and all changes to the game. It's alright to feel old, to feel like you have seniority. Age brings resistance to change. New, young blood comes in, sees the ways you old farts have been doing things, and want to change it, usually for the better. |

I'm not against change. There are changes that really should be addressed. I'm not denying that.
What I'm getting at is that when you complain about a valid game mechanic simply because you and maybe a few noobs don't like how it works, you ruin the game. If you don't like the way the game is intended to work, don't play it.
