A note to people thinking about buying ISK from a third-party:
Often, players will get an EVE Mail from a bot with a gibberish username advertising for buyable ISK from "4mmog.com." The website even appears "real" under a cursory inspection. However, it is simply a phising scam to get your email for advertising.
This has been a nonprofit, freelance, public service announcement.

It would be a better public service announcement if it did not advertise a ISK sellers website.
It is good enough to say that atleast one ISK seller's website harvests emails to add to spam lists.
Others have been known to engage in much worse business practices.
Finally any honest player will stay away from such sites, as they only invite problems for you. Which is always true in-game, and is often true out-of-game.

Or he could just say....
"Hi, I bought some ISK and now this website xxxxxx is sending me spam email."
"Please feel sorry for me and make me feel better about myself!"
Fail.

To clarify for those that weren't aware of it:
Buying ISK from a third party is against the EULA, full stop. CCP will remove any money you received in this way (including putting you at a negative balance, which is very hard to get out of), and may ban your account. Do not buy ISK for real money.

Edited by: Biolaja Tista on 23/10/2007 22:56:47 I wasn't actually planning on buying ISK. I just wanted to test out the site for laughs. Since I can't login with an account, I automatically assumed it was a scam, but I have yet to receive any junk mail.

and if you really want to buy some ISK for real money, use game time codes which can be bought at EVE Store or various ETC retailer websites like Shattered Crystal

GTC codes are, to freely quote an ISK spammer in my newbie corp: Not the fastest, not the cheapest, but the only safe way to buy ISK!

O.K Sorry. But when people start Topics suggesting CCP should sell Isk/allow players to sell Isk for RL cash and then,a few hours later, say they visited an Isk selling sight I tend to jump to conclusions.

I just don't get it.
Let me see. You're going to pay a monthly fee for EVE, so that you can login and have fun. But then, lacking the time to play the game, you'll pay someone else to earn ISK for you... and, for those really short on time, actually pay someone else to play the game for you and "level" your character. Huh. There are actually people paying a subscription fee and then paying again so they don't have to play.
Why not just spend the money on a date instead? You aren't playing anyhow!
Well, anyhow, I know someone that did pop for some gold in WoW once. Total scam, they didn't deliver and he was out his paypal funds (something like $100 give or take).
Don't Do Black ISK. Just don't. Makes no sense.

wow...all i can say is wow. You know macroers are running rampant when they have the balls to advertise on the forums. CCP really needs to start banning by more than just accounts, maybe ban by credit cards then distribute a list to the GTC retailers.

I had a fun one other day Got a message in my inbox saying basically thanks for buying ISK, here is a code to use at linked website to get further discounts
what did i do? *DELETE*
I am against RMT and i dont see point of it After all to get skill to use the stuff i buy takes time and once i spent that time skilling up i will have ISK to buy what i want (with luck)
*Definition of RMT* Kind of like paying someone to get your girlfriend pregnant so you dont have to do it, missing out on all the fun and joy that come form doing this just to get the end product

I don't do RMT, but i can understand it. after all, how many of us that used theolder consoles didn't at one point in time buy or rent a gameshark or a similar module to cheat in their games?
Some people just can't get their heads around the concept of cheat free environment go play a stand alone game, i guess.
