How about the Carrier class
They would be huge ships capable of carrying many frigates or a couple cruisers depending on the carrier.
Now these carriers of course would carry intersystem drives and would have minimal armaments. They would carry a small drone bay and have very limited cargo space. Thus not making them more effective than a battleship or industrial yet making them a nice neccessety for that nice intersystem jump drive.
Especially when jove system becomes a popular place.....especially since rumors say it can only be reached with a Jump drive on a ship and not jump gate accessible.
Also this could be great for little corps as well as big corps. The big corps would benefit from rapid deployment and the little corps would benefit from having their whole corp together litterally.
The carrier would be much more affordible as well not as much as a batleship but more than a cruiser.
Just think of the crazy possibilities

I like this idea. I have been thinking of something along those lines except more on the civ side. My thought was to have a way for players to dock to/in the larger ships. This could be an advantage for cases like escorting of large mining ships or for fleet battles. Another advantage (and maybe a career choice)would be if the larger ship had a longer warp distance. Think about a taxi service for eggs - travel in safety to your new ship...for a price. Anyway it's a thought.

afaik Titans actually are carrier type ships. More like mobile stations so I guess they will be able to transport ships.

Would be better if a carrier could house -at least- 10 to 15 frigates at any given time - in return for that ludicrous amount of space, it would have no offensive weapon slots. Just enough slots to fit maybe some bare-bones equipment.
It'd be slow as all hell, and would require constant protection, since it's vulnerable as all hell too.
This way, a corp could buy one and use it to ferry little corps around (for a price) - would be fun :) /Dale |

Sounds like a good idea.
The Titan class will be able to be docked at ? Much like a spacestation? I have very little knowledge about these types of ships.

I like hawks idea of being able to pay people to take you places. I think you should also be able to set it so you can go off line then when you come back online you could be on the other side of the galaxy.

I would quite like to see the ship used as a carrier would be in any space fleet.
Your corp has a few battleships and they escort your carrier which is fully armed into a region, inside the carrier users who are docked get a station type environment where they can work on ship configs, re-arming and stuff.
Imagine the scene your corp warp in, carrier takes up station frigates & cruisers launch and attack/patrol and then re-arm in system at the carrier.
Also the system should reflect real life, if the military built a carrier that housed 20 aircraft it would certainly be able to protect itself with some kind of anti aircraft and defender missles.
Not enought that the carrier becomes a weapon but enought to be a deterant.

Like the idea, but I really think, that only big, well organized Corps would be able to operate a Carrier Task Force. You need 20-30 players (or more!) to fly the fighter (frigate) protection, plus supportships, like cruisers and eventually Battleships. But gawd it would make me wet my pants, seeing it :) ------------------------------------------------ /e *mumble* is it here I write a cool quote or a funny text ? |

Well since the quote button is non-existant...
"Also the system should reflect real life, if the military built a carrier that housed 20 aircraft it would certainly be able to protect itself with some kind of anti aircraft and defender missles."
This is true. Modern U.S. Naval Carriers are equiped with a Defender Missile System know as the Sea Sparrow and the R.A.M. These systems basically are the ships last line of defense when the Air Wing cannot neutralize a threat. The Sea Sparrow is a ship to surface, ship to air missile that targets other missiles, aircraft, or ships. The R.A.M. is very similar to the Phalanx Closed in Weapons System that it replaces. The R.A.M. uses a large amout of projectiles to fragment incoming missiles or aircraft. R.A.M. stands for Rolling Airframe Missile, latest and greatest the Navy has in CIWS.
I'm for the carrier having special drones that only it can produce(Stock the ship with the right minirals of course)..Defender Drones that have tweeked attack stats so they can protect the ship. Its a carrier afterall and should have an insane drone capacity along with having 15 or 20 frigs.
heh, don't make it too slow : P I can't imagine a ship going only 10 m/s...

I dont understand what is being suggested here that a Titan cannot do..
Defender drones are a good idea but no way should they be "Carrier"/Titan only. Why else are their dedicated drone carrier ships already in game?

Unfortunately, it seems that docking with Titans won't be an option.

Use the Find feature to look for "Information from the Eve FanFest." The second paragraph indicates that there will be no docking with Titans.

Yeah, that would be sweet! Hopefully when titans are in game they will be able to do those kinds of things.

How about a Corvette class? Small, fast, lightly armored ship with a built in ONE SHOT torpedo launcher and a single High slot that can only fit a medium weapon. In well-led and coordinated groups, these would make deadly support ships, skirmishers and escorts but alone, they'd make easy meat for cruisers.
