This is probably already in the works, but I thought I'd throw it out there just in case...
Firstly, the present GTC system is a great step forward from the scammer-infested morass it used to be. However, there could be improvement. Currently, transactions between buyer and seller are dependent on the buyer being around to accept the GTC offer - buyers that do not accept in time often have their offers revoked and given to others. Secondly, I've seen talk of alts artificially driving up the price of GTC by creating (high) buy / sell orders that are immediately fulfilled by some other (noob) account. There's no reason to clutter the character-selling forum with bumps for buy /sell orders - a new system could clean this up and eliminate GTC market manipulation, additionally making it easier to buy and sell GTC for all.
An interface much like a stripped-down version of the contract system would be perfect for this (though available out of game instead of in). GTC sell orders would be posted there, allowing codes to be validated ahead of time before the contract goes up. Buy orders could also be put up by characters, and fulfilled immediately, even when the player behind the character is away. Time bought would be credited to the appropriate character's account immediately (as it is now), so that every completed GTC transaction would mean that the code is no longer on the market - phantom buy/sell orders would no longer be possible. Private transactions could be managed much the same way as they are now, by attaching a character's name to the sell order.
There are a few possible drawbacks I see to this (actual creation of the system aside). Firstly, setting a buy order would probably necessitate having to remove the amount from your character's wallet immediately, to be held in escrow - this could be a burden to those with smaller wallets. Secondly, the lag involved in accepting an offer could be an issue to those on slower connections (though there's precious little difference between that and getting first post on someone's sell order). Overall, though, it could be worth it in ease of buying / selling GTC, along with removing all those posts from the forum. |

This proposal is a ChinaBot Farm's dream as it removes CCP from the process entirely.

you SmokieSmokie too much... OP didnt say remove CCP, Op asked for a "market" trading feature to be added... I would rather go for Stocks/Bonds types of trading, so you have no idea who's buying or who's selling (removes stigma)..

As it stands, I don't think there is any actual human involvement involved in the GTC transactions themselves - codes are checked automatically and the offer is then available to the buyer. There is also very little interaction between players on the forums as well, and I rather doubt CCP trolls through the posts looking for suspicious-sounding sales (as banal as they are: "1x 30day GTC 200mil").

The thing is, though, that it's a process with emails and postings and the like. In the open, if only barely. Making it as simple as buying an item in the marketplace just makes it impossible to track or enforce.
(IMO, GTCs should no longer be sold. they cause far too many problems)

(Now, I happen to agree with you about GTCs, but that's not really the issue here)
There really wouldn't be any difference between tracking things now and tracking them with this system. Market logs would still contain the buyer and seller, and could be tracked just as easily as they are now - all that would be missing would be any EVE-mails, convos, etc, which technically don't have to happen anyways with the present system.
