not sure if anyones noticed but eve aint fun anymore, nowadays i play eve cos it feels like a chore, somthing i must do like payin my mortgage or maintaining my car.
CCP, put back the fun in eve, look into some of the ideas that the eve community has taken the time to tell u about. One that caught my attention is the Combat Arena, where u can select what type of fight you want, e.g: t1 cruiser, t1 modules only, no electronic warfare, also giving the combatants options to place a wager on the outcome etc. combatants will then be taken to an arena where its just you and your opponent, with no interuptions.
At least it would be another career path that players could undertake, i can just imagine the sheer volume of isk that people would bet on themselves to win.
is there a developer available for comment on this issue? Please dont ignore me on this one CCP.

Yeah, CCP c'mon already. Why don't you guys ever add new content, make the game shiny with cool new graphics updates, add more ships and modules, and would it kill you guys to maybe let us walk around in stations or something?
You guys don't do anything to make this game fun

Find something else to do in Eve for a while, go be a pirate, steal cans from people, try to run morphite out of 0.0 and not die. Hire your self out as a corp spie. Shoot yllow lines at round things called astroids and sell minerals.
Or, take a break from Eve. Train a long skill, stop playing for a week and see how you feel about it.
You also have two alts you can use. Train a long skill on your main, make one of these new alts with 1 mil SP, get all the noob combat SP you can and go crazy shooting anything you can. Fun is where you find it. -AS |

It's not fun because you've played it, most likely every day, for the past year(s).
Try playing civilization for even a week every day, all the time.
Same thing with EVE.
At the end, it's just another "repeat things". When you repeat things, you get bored.

Here's an idea: Everyone who's not having fun...quit. That way those of us who ARE having fun will have MORE fun with all the extra space and decreased lag. Oh, and don't forget to contract out all your junk.

I'm very new to EVE, but I know friends that have played EVE for as long as five years.
The one thing that has always intrigued me is their intensity. It seems they're really no longer enjoying the game because they're too focused in their accumulation of "wealth" or destruction of their "enemies".
Some of them get so frustrated that it'd take them days to be sane, again.
What we all agree on is that EVE has become too elitist. Nowadays you can't safely make a few jumps out of high-sec space with a frigate without being sent back to the cryotank.
What I would like CCP to do is go back to the old days without the uber gadgets so more of us can afford and be competitive.
Right now it seems only a select few is truly able to enjoy the game. Some do so through spending real life resources or deploying alternative methods to gain their riches.
No doubt some will say if you can't compete then quit, but honestly, it's not about inability to compete, but more about competing on a leveled playing field. The more the game benefit the elitist, the less the community will become.
Perhaps CCP can take a cue from PlayNC (Guild Wars) and stop driving EVE towards elitism and grindfest. (Games that contain uber items or skills tends to gravitate toward exploitation, not community and fair competition.)
I for one, would like to eliminate the gold/item sellers and macro farmers. I know it'd be hard to eradicate them, but if CCP institute some reasonable rules of competition and conduct and data tracking/analysis, they'll be able to catch a lot of the perpetrators.
Finally, my apologies for trolling here. Certainly not my intention. I have been wanting to get this off my chest by starting a topic, but this thread seemed appropriate enough for me to just give my $0.02.

Hmm.
Well, there is no grinding in Eve unless you choose to make ISK through repetitive tasks...
Why is it so damn unfair for experienced players to have more skills and be better than new players?
And umm...if you're a noob why do you expect to be able to venture into dangerous space without dying?
What are you trying to say? It isn't fair it takes skill to become better at a game and therefore it is a problem?

One of the key ideas of eve is thats its a sandbox approach. People dont want organised stuff like this. They want to have to hunt their targets and then engage in a fight were anything can happen.

One of the things that make Eve less fun for me is e-war.
Sure it is fun if you are the one laying down the e-war but for the guy sitting in his expensive but totally useless ship it is no fun. All he can do is hope that his gang mates can kill the e-war ships before his ship is gone.
Now, I'm not saying that e-war is not a valid tactic, I'm just saying that it is a fun reducing tactic. And I am not saying it should be nerfed.
But back to the OPs idea. PvP arenas are great fun. The buzz I get from fighting on the PvP server in Dungeon Runners is as good as the PvP buzz in Eve.
My only worry would be that you would find that many PvPers would give up on PvP outside the arenas because it is so much fun. And this would not be a good thing.

We already HAVE combat arenas. They're called lowsec and 0.0 - enter those areas and you're free to shoot anything you like ;)
PvP without consequences (what you're asking for with your combat arena idea) is the 100% opposite of what EVE is about. Battlegrounds killed pvp in WoW and they would do the same here, it's a terrible idea.
