Edited by: Clone 0 on 25/02/2004 21:59:14 --- EXPLORING The great unknown --- Wouldn't it be nice to be able to go advenure instead of sitting idle in a station and checking the map for ALL info there possably could be... ? It would be nice to have a great cluster of regions "out there" with multiple entery and exit points. The opertunitie to find anything from empty ships to orginal BP's and other UBER loot and of course the option of loosing one's ship in a battle which they couldn't have won... In short: 1 Big chance... of either winning big or loosing big
- NO MAP INFO non what so ever, no system's on map, no connections (maybe 1 jump line into the unknown ? as to get ppl to check it out...) Thus also no autopilot, EVERTHING will have to be done manualy Not knowing when ur gonna be able to dock in the near *OR* far future...
- UNCHARTED SPACE ONEWAY GATES, just jump in and find that there is no gate back to where you came from (empire space). jump from A into X, in X there is no gate to A only to Y and deeper into the unknown... Maybe keep switching to where 1 particular gate jumps, as to make in unchartable >:)

How about they do this with the Jove regions that are currently disconnected from space? And connect them again

or maybe for the other part of space (amongst other's the 7-KxBJ region(s)).. doesn't matter much which region's or part of space aslong as there isn't ANY map info :)
(and to be honest I antisipated a much bigger response as just one post... don't ppl wanna go out and explore ?)

I like it. There isnt really anything for explorers to do atm, its all there on the map. Anyway, even if it wasnt on the map, the only thing worth exploring for would decent mining locations and maybe rat spawns. If there were big prizes to be found occasionally, then maybe explorers could have a bit of fun

i love that idea... chances of never making it back to current space unless you get an old abandoned jump gate working or something... by tracking down the parts
When I was a kid my favorite relative was Uncle Caveman. After school we'd all go play in his cave, and every once in a while he would eat one of us. It wasn't until later that I found out that Uncle Caveman was a bear. -jack handy |

how about the singled out cluster "to the right" (the 1 I mentioned earlier).... That looks very intresting to me... safe space but no stations... (me speculates that there will be rouge drones float about, anyhow: if and when that opens it will be the biggest player event ever
(tho it might just be reserfed for peeps with jumpdrives...

During the wait for EVE - The Second Genesis, I recall reading a story taken from the universe of EVE.. It was about a long forgotten space ship.. or more like a space cruise ship (kind of like that one in The Fifth Element) And This ship had be destroyed way back in time, and drifted around for years.. And some scavengers found this ship, "and mystery aroused around its wreck" (hehe, sounds groovy) Those who found this ship got a hold of the ship log and started to track down the history behind this ship.. and the story was quite long so IĈm not going to take all day with this.. Anyway, those scavengers uncovered the history behind this ship and it was very interesting to read, and to find something like that drifting around in uncharted space sound really interesting

Yes, I'd like to explore systems which gradually open up(and might close down) as you go along.

Freelancer had this feature. Stargates that were hidden unless you find them. Maybe the way we have ship logs now, we can have extra rare logs that drop near to where the hidden systems are. They would contain XYZ coordinates of a stargate that lets you jump to hidden systems.

Another good idea that the devs should at least consider. The only problem is pirate infestation. The player pirates would sit down in theese systems waiting for the brave sucker that goes down there.Perhaps there should be hidden jump gates in all systems from 1.0 - 0.0 make the rewards proportional to where you jumped from. I like that idea Kozak !
Would be nice if there would be gates in system's that didn't show up on the scanner...

The explore idea is great. Perhaps with someway to trade the information gathered so that corporations can create their own maps and sell them on the market.

I think when they introduce planet zones this is where the should focus on for exploring.Maybe ancient ruined cities. egads! monsters or at the very least natural hazards. Small technolgy primited or isoleated races.Planets could really enhance different aspects of the game. Explor shouldnt be about finding new systems it should be about stuf thats in the systems. even as is there are plenty of planets moons and asteroid belts to throw in things like abandaned starbases. ancient distress singles and stuff.Roving agents would be great too. along with random encounters with dialouge of some sort proceeding battle or with the possibility of preventing it or leading to a mission or getting a trade tip. you get the idea i hope

lol i remember in beta 6 when the map was completley usless i "ventured" into syndicate system only to go and get lost for a couple of days . Even that damn printable map everyone had was hard to use . Anyway it would be a nice addition to have this again, it would also be nice to have unmarked gates(that dont show up on the map) scattered about the place, mind you if i had my way we wouldnt have the "pilots in space" option as this is one of the main reasons for all the blob wars, and makes scouts *almost* usless
