Sure, but only if missiles get low slot velocity and explosion radius / explosion velocity mods like gun.

um why? the current anti missile system defenders don't work this will replace them imo so there will be no real change to missiles.

no the missile defend system he is saying will TOTALLY remove ANY damage done by that missile.
so a system that takes 1 turret out of action, completely out of action would be the equal of the defense system

But only a percentage of the time, just like a TD effectively reduces the percentage of max damage done in a many situations.
Defenders should simply be removed, and replaced with the equivalent of a short-range anti-missile system similar in concept to the Phalanx CIWS system used on modern US ships. This would eliminate the need for an actual missile to be launched, and would consume ammo so long as it was active and missiles were flying toward the ship. Because they use ammo, they could not be used indefinitely, ensuring that missiles are not entirely nerfed. Additionally, the devs could easily tune the percentage chance of missile destruction to ensure play balance.

Exactly, they don't work and missiles aren't overpowered. You would effectively be making them weaker. Without giving them anything in exchange, this doesn't work.

i could argue missile are over powered as there is no defense vs them atm. ( unless you count out running them but that works with a turret ship as well )
the current system that is surposed to remove a missile from light each time its fired does not work, CCP have added this into the game many years ago when they did work, also they would remove as many missiles as you could fire defenders so a rocket launcher could make a raven obsolete until he had to reload. so my system i am suggesting is better for missile users.
