I had a lot of questions about the state or piracy and how pirates feel about it so I decided to just put it in survey form.
1. How long have you been an outlaw?
2. What do you think about people having alts for carebearing or hauling in high-sec?
3. How do you feel about pirates that mostly camp gates in large battleship gangs?
4. What do you think about belt and mission runner hunting?
5. Which one do you prefer? (see 3 and 4)
5. What do you think about "mercenary" corps? 6. Are there enough targets in your home systems?
7. How often do you get a chance to ransom?
8. Which ship do you find yourself mostly piloting?
9. How do you feel about low-sec mothership camping?
Thank you for your time.

Thank you for your time.
1. Well, something like one and a half years as a pirate. My actual sec status has gone as low as -9 and as high as 2.5, depending mostly on the state of my wallet.
2. No problem with it, really. The ISK has to come from somewhere...piracy's not easy on the wallet in most cases.
3. Eh. Every now and then's fine, I guess, especially if waiting for a specific target...but I don't have a lot of respect for the people who only camp, especially in massive gangs.
4. It's ace. Great stuff. Depending on the skill of the person you're hunting, and assuming you're solo or in a group of small ships, you can get some great fights out of it too, as well as making good cash.
5. Belt hunting, but it's harder to do these days than it used to be.
6. Mercs are ok, if they're actually mercs. My personal issue is with corps who call themselves mercenaries, but aren't really. If they have loyalties to specific entities or make up contracts that don't exist...that makes me a sad panda. Otherwise, I give them the same respect I give fellow pirates and 0.0 combat pilots - we're all PvPers in the end.
7. Usually, yes. I personally live near a minor mission/traffic hub, so there's generally targets with in a jump or two.
8. Not as often as I'd like. There's always the risk of enemy backup popping in, and nine times out of ten, people don't pay anyway. I don't know what changed, but it seems like a year ago, more people were willing to pay and deal honestly than now.
9. Lately, Assault Ships. I like the fairly low cost, good firepower, and mobility. In the past, mostly battlecruisers. With the amount of money I make, they're basically the best cost to effectiveness ratio I can afford.
10. Don't like it, honestly. There's simply no way to kill them without a good sized fleet, and them with no notable backup. Not to say they never die, but it's several times harder to kill them in low-sec than in 0.0, and I feel as if they were balanced for 0.0...making them more than a little overpowered for low-sec. I have no problem with carriers, though. While powerful, they can be scrammed just like any other ship in low-sec, which is really my issue with Moms.

im wicked bored so ill answer
1. Almost a year
2. Haulers are necessary for loot sale. Carebearing alts are good for when you hit a bad streak and need to supplement your income. I do know one pirate, though, who uses no alts and does his carebearing/hauling through trade combined with courier contracts.
3. personally i find gatecamping boring but it can be a good isk source. people pirate the way they like, who am i to judge?
4. Can't show enough love for belthunting and mission busting.
5. belthunting/mission busting.
6. if someone's gonna pay you to kill stuff more power to you.
7. get chances all the time, id say i offer ship ransoms abot 20% of the time. i always offer pod ransoms unless in a dangerous area or if you're on my pod-on-sight list.
8. small, fast ships. drive fast, take chances.
9. if i had one, id do it. that said ccp needs to take a long look at the ew immunity as more people get supercaps.

1. A little over 2 years
2. It's a must for hauling, for ratting i don't know anymore, my ratting days are over, but a decent source of isk nevertheless.
3.Don't really care tbfh, they are fun to break up, but very very boreing to be a part of, and if that's all you do, then you will never learn pvp.
4. Used to be great, i would average 5-15 belt kills a day, but now, lol, if you get 1 a day you are lucky. They need to make belts in low-sec more attractive.
5. (4.)
6. Never been in one, i like the idea, just not the politics.
7. Less and Less every day
8. I ransom every so often, but most of the times, i just kill, don't really have time anymore to ransom.
9. Absolution
10. Imho, capital ships need to be removed from the game, or at the very least confined to 0.0

Thank you for your time.
1) Since march 2) There are only 2 alt functions a pirate should ever need - a scout and a hauler, supposing corp mates are unavailable. 3) Camping gates is a lottery, it can be very boring at times especially in large numbers. In groups of 2-4 though it's often quiet entertaining when you get a command ship or hac jump in, and can actually have a close fight. Rest of the time is a snoozefest with lack of adrenaline. 4) Belt piracy is great fun, I get some real adrenaline kicks out of it, especially against pirate bait ships. Mission probing is exciting too and the loot makes it worthwile. 5) 4 5 err b) Mercenary corps can play an important role in the game, people who can't defend themselves hire mercs to pick on pies, resulting in much pew pew to be had. 6) There's plenty of targets about, you just need patience and learn to pick your targets carefully. 7) I don't ransom things very often, usually prefer a killmail over isk, unless I think the victim has an expensive fit. Half of the time I'm taking big hits in structure when the opponent goes pop, so I don't think about convo'ing. 8) Thorax - this ship is made of pure violence, it's a crazy gank ship. It will annihilate most T1 cruisers and AF's. In gangs their DPS is lethal. 9) Overkill. Really don't see much fun in being virtually 'invincible'. I have massive respect for x13 for their recent deeds.

4. Key word: "Hunting"
5. Hunting is more rewarding
5. Thought of going merc once, might do so in the future. (Why are there two number fives? Some one needs to get their Hooked On Phonics Rank(1) to level 2 :D j/k.

1. How long have you been an outlaw? I'm not an outlaw in the sec status sense of the word.
2. What do you think about people having alts for carebearing or hauling in high-sec? I think they make for targets that whine about their 70 Mil SP Titan pilot mains...
3. How do you feel about pirates that mostly camp gates in large battleship gangs? I think they must be dull, boring, uninteresting people in real life too.
4. What do you think about belt and mission runner hunting? Loads of fun. Mission runners especially. They get so bent out of shape.
5. Which one do you prefer? (see 3 and 4) 4 which should be obvious by the answers...
5. What do you think about "mercenary" corps? Can't blame people for trying to make a buck... Still they get by on allowing the weak to remain weak. Generally they aren't anywhere near as effective as they think they are either. 6. Are there enough targets in your home systems? Never enough targets. I tend to roam from system to system.
7. How often do you get a chance to ransom? At least 2 or 3 times a week. Although most can't speak english well enough to negotiate.
8. Which ship do you find yourself mostly piloting? How dare you attempt to collect ship intel on the pirate community. I fly what gives me the best chance of success in a given situation.
9. How do you feel about low-sec mothership camping? Is this a mothership camping someone, or someone camping a mothership??? Sorry I don't spend much time doing this sort of thing.

1. How long have you been an outlaw? -don't remember, trying to fix it though (not that actively)
2. What do you think about people having alts for carebearing or hauling in high-sec? -I think you should rephrase your questions and not make them so loaded. I dont think anything of people's alts, if they want them then they can have them.
3. How do you feel about pirates that mostly camp gates in large battleship gangs? -I think its a better idea that camping in small battleships, or large cruisers...
4. What do you think about belt and mission runner hunting? -Its fun, being baited and blobed is not
5. Which one do you prefer? (see 3 and 4) -4 I think, even though 90% of the lucrative targets are baiting for 'anti-pirate' blobs
5. What do you think about "mercenary" corps? -Actual mercenary corps are chill. People who say they are mercenaries just so they can hide behind the 'I was paid to...' excuse are not.
6. Are there enough targets in your home systems? -Hardly, everyone round there now is conspiring to kill us, with blobs of 20 battleships and recons, camping us in dreads, etc.
7. How often do you get a chance to ransom? -I always forget, i generally don't expect the ransom to be paid, bnut the '**** YOU GUYS' in local after I ask makes me hard. I also forget to turn on fraps, and overload my guns and stuff...
8. Which ship do you find yourself mostly piloting? -My Abaddon, its invincible, I've renewed the insurance twice now.
9. How do you feel about low-sec mothership camping? -If you got a mothership, and you're/you want to be, a lowsec pirate, what else would you use? Also, they make funny news when idiots lose them. Beets, you're among friends. |

5. Which one do you prefer? (see 3 and 4) I'm a meat and potatoes kind of guy
6. What do you think about "mercenary" corps? meh, I think it would be fun but I can't be arsed to keep after my sec
7. Are there enough targets in your home systems? of course, I live in Hamcake. There is always some group trying to "take over" or "clean up pirates". I have been hear about 11 months now and have seen alot of those types come and go.

9. Which ship do you find yourself mostly piloting? not tellin, check teh KB
10. How do you feel about low-sec mothership camping? e-peen waving imo...could be better used in actual combat
"Where are you guys going in your battleships?" "We are going to camp in Amamake; kill 500 carebears and 1 NPC" "Why are you gonna kill an NPC?" "See, nobody cares about the carebears!" [BEES] |

1. How long have you been an outlaw? between charatcers about 2 years, ive reached -9 a few times, -10 the last bit to -10 takes ages.
2. What do you think about people having alts for carebearing or hauling in high-sec? Why not, the money in piracy has dropped, so need other sources of income
3. How do you feel about pirates that mostly camp gates in large battleship gangs? Well, persoanlly i think its lame, but i agree its the only way to get targets nowadays.

2. What do you think about people having alts for carebearing or hauling in high-sec? Hauling is a necesity. Carebearing is up to the player, i dont have a problem with it but i wouldnt.
3. How do you feel about pirates that mostly camp gates in large battleship gangs? I see it as being similar to spawn camping, personally i dont like it.

1. How long have you been an outlaw?
For as long as I can remember, with a couple of short highsec breaks.
2. What do you think about people having alts for carebearing or hauling in high-sec?
I have no issue with it, if people want to have alts it's their choice.
3. How do you feel about pirates that mostly camp gates in large battleship gangs?
Generally they are higher skillpoint characters, but their PvP experience and skilling tends to be somewhat limited when compared to those who actively move around.
4. What do you think about belt and mission runner hunting?
Best and most interesting way to pirate.
5. Which one do you prefer? (see 3 and 4)
4.
6. What do you think about "mercenary" corps? The majority of mercenary corps are fine, and there's a lot of good people who are highly skilled in the merc trade. However, there's a couple of the larger merc entities that I've lost a lot of respect for after their recent treatement of allies.
7. Are there enough targets in your home systems?
We don't **** on our own doorstep, so that's really not a question that can be answered.
8. How often do you get a chance to ransom?
Every time I engage.
9. Which ship do you find yourself mostly piloting?
Generally commands, recons and HACs, with the occasional AF thrown in there.
10. How do you feel about low-sec mothership camping?
I'm of the firm opinion that motherships shouldn't be able to be piloted in lowsec.

Belt-hunting in low-sec is almost non-existent, unless you like blowing up shield t1 tanked vexors and stuff that really don't make you any ISK. But in general, I think there could be more of it - make belt-ratting more profitable in low-sec!
