Hi all,
ATM I have enough RPs for about 500 mech eng datacores across my six R&D agents.
I was wondering what people's views are on what's going to happen to the market with the introduction of the new ships?
Should I wait till the T2 ships hit and then liquidate my RPs or try and beat the possible market flood of mech eng cores which I'm suspecting may occur?

Any answer you get here, no matter how reasonable, should be totally suspect. LOL, this is almost a trolling topic. (Not an accusation at you btw.)

Given that there is at least one massive datacore farming IPO gearing up and the market is already in retreat from the recent surge, I would sell as soon as I needed the isk and it was worth the time to collect everything. Currently, prices are well above the point where people can pay for GTCs entirely with one character's worth of datacores (generally agreed to be the long-term equilibrium point), so unless you think there's going to be an even bigger spike in demand, sell now. At 32 Mech Eng datacores per black ops and ratwagon run it's one heck of a dc sink a comin'.
Personally I'm hoping for a spike in the interface alignment market.

ps your decision should be based in part on how much you feel like sitting in Jita or Rens and playing the market. Make a little market alt now.

Wait for the prices to stabilize at a higher level. Wait a month or so after the patch. ----------------------------------

I simply don't think there will be enough Data Cores to meet the demand and CCP may want to boost data core production?
If they do that they can do it in a number of ways.
They could reduce the cost of data cores per reasearch point. In which case you would be best to keep your data cores as you will get more cores.
They could increase the number of RP's an agent gives out. If this is the case then it makes no difference if you cash them in now or let them build up.
They could make LVL 5 R&D agents available which will force folks to cash in their current agents and move to LVL 5 R&D agents. This could then flood the market as people change agents, price will then drop for a time.
Trying to 2nd guess CCP is almost impossible as they will keep any change to RP production to themselves and it will be implemented via a stealth nerf.
IMHO if things are left alone, keep them and cash them in after REV3 and make 2 billion ISK or more.

<irony> How about CCP could give the 200,000 or so active accounts the option of doing mech eng R&D agents x 6 x 3 alts. </irony>

Edited by: Admiral Nova on 26/10/2007 14:34:02 The will go up to maybe 3m, and then down to 1-1.5m probably repeatedly between now and a month or so after Rev3 when they will probably be back towards 1m again. There is no limit to datacore supply, even for 1m/ core you can pay for GTCs for chars to get more...
The reality is, the price is currently higher than it should be on demand, it's all due to speculation. Can't say it won't go up again, but it will go down again that is sure.
The only thing that 'may' go up is Decryptor prices, and they already have to a certain extent (some 150% already) so maybe they have already reached their peak. There is certainly resistance to the price going any higher at the moment. Especially since CCP may increase supply and cause it to fall.

So a split of opinions there, I'm none the wiser! BTW I'm honestly not trolling, but have been worried that being greedy and hoping for a sharp price hike may get me my fingers burnt!
There again, if I cash in the RPs now and sell the 'cores and their price doubles, I'll also be somewhat Pi**ed.

i'd be hedging.
whatever you do, don't dump em all on the market in jita at once, as it's a sure way to actually contribute to a decline in value yourself.
make a bunch of sell orders: say, 50 cores each. put some at current market value so you start getting a trickle, and then move up at increments of 100k or whatever you think is right.
