Edited by: Twin blade on 28/10/2007 01:03:48 They can't be soloed with out tons of luck or coming across a stupid one.
You can stop them form attacking you with a highly tanked ship or have a mass of Ewar as it will just force them to pick on a weaker ship. !

depends on what you're fly?
for the most part, you're hosed unless you have good damage, can kill it's cap/speed, and damn good tank. But, you're caldari and probably won't get it webbed, probably don't have a scram fit, and most likely won't neutralize it's cap unless in a BS. Most experienced vagas will have the kinetic hole patched, so explosive damage is a solid bet to damage it best. If they're orbiting at top speed, a tracking disruptor will ruin their fun -also it's tough to run a vaga's mwd indefinitely.
GL. try ec-300's to jam it and make a run for it. THUKKER -Be Paranoid

Solo? No, I highly doubt it. Chase it away? Absolutely.

Your best bet might be a BS with a (or several) heavy neuts, and a MWD. Let them get as close at they're gonna, then slam on the scram and neuts and MWD the hell towards them. Hopefully you get into web range, and from there it's easy. It's by no means guaranteed to work of course :)
As others have said, scaring them off shouldn't be a problem, killing them is.

Long time ago I killed a vagabond with my rating raven (true story).
My friends were getting attacked by 2 hostile vagabonds outside our station in 0.0. So I took the only ship available to me at that time (because we had just moved there and it was Angel Space) and undocked.
I did not expect to kill any of them. At best I hoped to drive them away. But it was too late for my friends, they were already dead when I undocked and started to shoot at one of the vagas. Using only what I had for killing Angels: Bane torpedoes, heavy drones and a target painter.
They orbited me, took down my shield to 50% while I slowly worked away his. Now this vagabond should have left when his shield buffer got low but instead he stayed. When it got critical (close to armor) it looked like he was aligning for warping out.
Instead he bumped against the station and got slowed down. Now that was only a few seconds, but long enough for my Banes and drones to take down the last of his shield and suddenly he exploded. After that the fight was almost over.
The pod warped away when I tried to lock it and the other vaga did not stay to try avenge his comrade, so I picked up the loot can. It had 2 Large Shield Extenders II, 1 gun (220mm gun I think it was), 1 Domination Warp Disruptor and 2 Warp Core Stabilizers (remember that this fight happened long time ago before the warp core stab nerf and today's nanosetups).
I was happy over my unexpected kill. But one thing was missing. For some reason I never got a killmail. EVE bugs ftl. After I looked around a little I found it on the killboard the vagabond's pilots corp used.
It showed that my friends had part of the kill though they were already dead when I entered the scene, so the killpoints got split up between me and them. Oh bugger
This little story of mine may not help the OP with his problem. But I can't sleep and the night is long.

there was a topic like this earlier today:
A percision fitted Cerberus will kill one, and a percision fitted Drake will never die to one but may have a hard time reaching that far out. For obvious reasons, a Nighthawk will also never fear the low dps from a vegabond, but may have a hard time killing it.
Key is, if he is hitting you with his guns, your missles will hit him, if he is going a 5k m/sec then he is not hitting you and you're missles may or may not hit him.
So it will take friends to kill you. -----------

Basically, as aforementioned, very easy to chase them off, difficult to catch and kill them. A precision Cerb might do it, though. ------------------------------ One more soldier off to war... And one Velator in my hangars. |
