Anyone know if you are disqualified from the lottery if you have a currently available "research" mission? Seeing as how you could potentially have these for a while, doesn't seem to make sense that this would be the case. As far as I can tell, the only point to these missions is that they greatly enhance the number of research points you gain. Right? --- The Tarsis Shriners |

AFAIK you are correct. However, someone else did post that they received a BP offer immediately after having finished one of those missions, which would indicate that the mail was queued until the mission was done...
Anyhow, I always found it strange that the mail says: "Our research has been fruitful, but we've encountered a small problem..." If it's been fruitful, where's the fruit!?!??!!
Someone should correct that. It's only fruitful if it produces some item.

No, if you accept the mission then you wont gain anymore rp until you succeed it or failed it and if you succeed it youll gain 1x the rp/day you get. If you fail or decline the mission then you wont gain bonus but you wont lost anything either.

Oof. That certainly throws a wrench in things, if that indeed is the case. It sure would be nice if there were just a small amount of documentation about research. --- The Tarsis Shriners |

The only point is to gain more RPs. Not doing the missions shouldn't cause you any problems. RP gain is not stopped while you're in a mission.

Nah, as the people doing the research are techies, they invariably come up with some fascinating results or items of no possible value or pratical implementation whatsoever. So its fruitful for them, but it doesn't yield a blueprint for you necessarily!
Speaking as a techie/engineer, this is also often how it works in real life...

Papa the original question was about being offered a BP while you had an outstanding mission offer from the research agent. Perhaps you could clarify?

Well we got an interceptor BP from one of our players who has been afk for two weeks (therefore doing no research missions) - He had 10k points in Amarrian Starship Engineering...
