When we play this game we play it as individuals and not some borg collective despite it being a mmorpg. We want our ships to feel potent and not like a helpess heap of junk that needs a bunch of other players to operate at capacity.

There are issues with true game balancing, no doubt about it but nerfing at this scale after so long makes you think twice about the ability of ccp to stay on top of their thing. It s a product we are using and it has to be attractive to a broad audience to retain it s ability of gathering rl isk but the line has to be drawn somewhere.
It would be interesting to hear what ccp has to say about how game design gets influenced by profit considerations in their particular situation right now, in the future and before as well.

And you honestly expect any replies at all to this ? I mean, the way you worded it ? If anything, you'll get some marketingspeak from Wrangler/Kieron, but even that, I really doubt you'll get. _

Still, he makes a good point. I'd like to know why Eve devolves into an earlier beta with each patch

This is the main point of your post. I'll use a comparison to tell you what I think.
It takes a certain amount of time in WoW to get your character to maximum level (I think it's around 2-8 months, haven't played so not sure). Then you can roll out another character and test if that fits your playstyle. After going through the content -which there's a lot of- one usually stops playing WoW after about 2 years or so(this is a very optimistic estimation btw). That's 50+(12*24)=338 dollars for Blizzard per player.
In EVE one can never reach the "top level". Currently it takes a lifetime to get everything to lvl5, I think it was something like 38 years or so. Average EVE player usually plays for 7-11 months. This hasn't changed btw, characters just get resold a lot more nowadays and this brings it to my point which I'm now going to make: To buy a character like the one I have currently one needs about 6 billion ISK. The only legitimate way for a newbie to get that money is to sell GTC:s which means 15 90d GTC:s at 400M/piece. One GTC is about 10 dollars which means CCP gets about 150 dollars for each starting newbie who buys a character. On top of that the same player plays at least 7 months netting in another 70 bucks and then there's the account initialization fee which is IIRC about 20 bucks. So in total CCP gets 150+70+20=240 dollars for each player who stays for 7 months or 150+110+20=280 dollars for each player who stays for 11 months.
So justifying balance changes actually doesn't matter from financial point of view as long as CCP allows RMT on GTC:s and the skill learning system stays as is. -

And thats were your logic has an error. CCP is not getting 150 dollars from a newbie. CCP is getting 150 dollars for 300 days worth of eve playing. If you sell the timecode for isk, another player doesnt need to pay real life money for his eve subscription. so your figures are way off and its 90 dollars for 7 months and 130 dollars for 11 months ccp is getting from you to play the game.
if you are paying 150 dollars for a well skilled character, thats not ccps fault, thats your own decision. and ccp does not earn additional money for it.
