Hi all,
i have a solution to "almost" all the problems in eve. from isk farmers to 0.0 pvp combat and the most recent, cloaking. some will like this other will hate it. but please remeber this is a game, and not real life.
Question = how do you fix EVE very very easily? FIX = fix/limit ALL prices of all ships, guns, every thing in game to 1million isk. this was done on the test server(think it still is).
Now what does this fix.
ok, hear me out here. 0.0 pvp. people dont want to pvp in 0.0 or close to it when they know that their $500 bizillion ship is going to die. keep reading.
this also fixes ISK farmers as now there is no more need for the loads of ISK that they sell to people to build these even more expensive ships. in even larger gangs of people giving a lag fest and not a fight.
now i know some are going to complain at the free market and say that prices of things are going up, because the demand is up. given this might be some what true (EVE does try to mimic a real life enterprise market) this is a game... ment for people to FIGHT each other. not sit in a mission, a fat roid mining or what ever else.
ok, still not convinced. think of it this way. all the FPS(first person shooters) out on the market, Quake, Doom, UT, ect.. if when u died while playing in a online game had to pay with "real money" then you would not fight much, or do much of anything; unless u had the better team/ ect. this is evident in EVE right now.
fix all the problems in eve, from isk farmers to massive lag fights, and 0.0 battles; and fix all prices on the eve market to max of $1millon. this still makes all aspects of EVE in game currently still viable- Mission, PVP, selling of minerals, selling of things in general, ect. and makes people not care if they fight in BS with crap skills and loose them. this ENCOURAGES fighting in all system in all ships and even solo if this fits your boat.
yes, this is my first post. but i have played many other games, from Planetside, to Wow, GuildWars, and even old ones then many on this board have played....
if WOW had a gold death penilty when playing PVP then you would not do it.. which is why other games that have in game money needed to do things went with other effects when the person died.(death penilties, gear dmg, respawn with basic handguns(counter-strike) ect).
for those that play/played WoW - blizzard made in the last expansion (burning cursades) the ablity to make so much money that there was no reason to buy WoW gold. as a result less gold buying from poor noobs trying to compete happened, WoW gold sites even though they work, they are charging more.
!FLAME AWAY AS I KNOW THIS WILL GET IT!
but if you dont like - think why. and dont say this will kill the in game economy... THAT MUCH IS EVIDENT that the point- this is where alot of the problems are! equal the playing field, and ENCOURAGE fighting ever where even when the odds are not in your favor...

this is a game about risk vs reward. Taking away the risk would make the pvp boring so a big /notsigned from me

I totally agree with you. If everything is almost free, this would be a fun game. Players would need to wait for their skills to complete and pew pew away :) --------- Technica impendi Caldari generis. Pax Caldaria!

I've been gaming since the internet was in it's infancy(ok, there wasn't really even an "internet" at the time ), and that's the most rediculous proposal to "fix" Eve that I've ever seen... ____________________

The entire point of this game is that it is a dynamic virtual economy with an MMO attached. Kill the economy, kill the game. - The game is not the problem. The problem is that you are not adapting to the game.

Hmmm, let's see
Kestrel, small shield booster, 1Mn AB, hardener, 2 BCUs, 4 standard launchers: 10M ISK.
Wait, you said all items?
Better add half a billion ISK for the ammo then.
Yeah, that'll solve a lot of problems. Brilliant, Holmes!

Edited by: Race Rogers on 28/10/2007 14:13:39 every game since 1992 has been ruined by this thinking.
death has to have meaning or it quickly turns into mush.
the first truely mmorpg, UO online, was ruined this way. one used to be able to freely kill anybody outside of a town and loot everything from your opponent, it made fighting and death a real thing. one was on the edge leaving a town and the blood was always pumping!!! then came the no loot, get everything back, no hard loss which made it not a pvp anything but a pve game. very quickly, UO became a pure pve game. that is fine i guess, but UO lost tons of good paying players but also gained even more pve players.. SO WHAT HAPPENED TO Utima Online?
PVE and/or PVP without risk gets boring fast even a die-hard pve'er will get bored rather quickly. WHY?
because there is no blood pumping threat from an unknown just out of your sight one can only last so long without that. this is why games that have no death risk slowly fail, yes, even wow will fail if they dont fix risk or death. i already see it happening there. their boasted 8 million accounts do include the ones that have cancelled and of course, the gold sellers too. i would like to see just how many accounts are really playing.
there are other games out there for you to play without trying to fix this one.
EDIT: spelling
CCP is doing it right.
end of rant...........

I am not in favour of dumbing-down the game, EVE seems to have a variety of elements of gameplay which people can find an affinity for, most activities have the potential of earning either a small, modest or exceptional return for the time and risk.
Most that complain about a lack of isk tend have one or more elements of impatience, laziness or incompetence. We don't need to dumb-down the game to cater for the lowest common denominator. You can buy/built T1 ships and fit them with T1/T2 modules and you will have a ship sufficient for your needs.

Edited by: Drykor on 28/10/2007 14:24:45 This is wrong on so many levels that I can't even put my mind to naming them all. But most importantly, first, you would kill all risk, changing the entire face of the game. No one plays Eve to have a first person shooter in space. Second, everyone producing stuff would quit, it would mostly leave some pvp'ers playing, maybe those that are on the test server now. Third, claiming/attacking 0.0 space would get ******ingly annoying with everyone showing up in titans and motherships all the time.
How can you seriously say you gave this even a minute of thought?
Edit: actually I'm convinced this is a deliberate troll and he's laughing at us all now.

It would be fun and more people would pvp, carebears would generally quit the game - as they have little to work for.
That being said, it's not what eve is about at all.
If you want to pew pew with fixed price ships, go play on sisi.

Dear OP,
You want to fix the game, so almost all my skill become useless? Thanks ever so much.
I play this game for the market, the industry and the economic PvP.
My question to you, is who is going to build those 1mil isk mods, ships and ammo that you want, once all of us carebear types have left since your proposal would kill almost all profit venues for the carebear folks. --

Your an idiot. There are far better ways to fix isk farmers, which CCP will not do.
I have no idea why you idiots think you have this 'cure all ills of eve' idea. Crawl back under a rock.

you are THE idiot...
so what about the industrial part of the game?! there would NEVER be anything up for sale, since everything would be bought out in 10 seconds and people would start trading things instead of using isk as a currency... if you make everything available in the market from npc's for free, then you totally remove the reason for industrial char, complexes, owning 0.0 systems.. actually you remove the reason for anything in this game, everything evolve about economist in this game, remove that and you got nothing
