Well, sort of  - The ôMegaphoonionö (apparently)
So, I had the crazy idea of taking some smartbombing battleships and trying to kill a fleet with it. Essentially we ran in to JH with what appeared to be 18 sniper battleships. We sat above the gate, warping around various sniper positions, and waited for them to start forming up.
Meanwhile, as expected, BRUCE started to form up the gangs; with the layout of the systems in the area they control there is basically two clusters of systems, each of which have a high population. The two gangs made their way to two different gates within their systems ready to jump into JH.
Back in JH we stopped warping, and sat at one sniper position, aligned and ready. Within no time the spot is busted (kudos to BRUCE and their probing, you guys are insanely efficient), a dictor appears back on scanner and tries to land on us. The order is given to drop the "bad bubble" on our out gate, before we warp off to it.
WeÆd run a lot of numbers and setups with various things that could work if they followed. As expected local swells, jumping up to 106, who all quickly chase to the gate we've been seen to warp to. As we dropped out, it was time to see if it could indeed be done. The first of their support lands and is immediately blown apart from the first volley of the smartbombs; the dictor bubble pulling the gang chasing us and us very much together. More support keeps landing, and the lag gets bad - meanwhile also their second gang has warped in from another gate and has avoided being snared by the bubble and so is landing on the gate rather than on top of us.
I'm primaried, and my HP starts dropping fast with the second gang shooting me. Then thing start to explode; ships became wrecks, pods became corpses. The order to align out is given, and as I'm about to go down the gang warp is given. For a few moments nobody quite knew what had been killed, just that there had been a fair number of those glorious blue flashes. Once we were docked and the mails were all posted, we realised it had been a success:
96 kills / 1 loss including pods:
Killed:

> 5 Elite Cruisers
> 11 Cruisers
> 1 Destroyer
> 1 Frigate
> 11 Battlecruisers
> 12 Battleships
Lost:
> 1 Battleship
The outcome could have been better if both gangs had landed on us, though there was little we could do to stop that with what we had. It meant we didnÆt hold the field and get to see the wrecks û most mails were truncated, but a few did show a couple of items (including a domination warp disruptor) 
It was the last night of the war, and a hell of a way to end it. ItÆs been fun BRUCE, IÆve no doubt weÆll see each other again some time.

The tactic was brilliant, and our forums are buzzing with awe of how you pulled this one.
The lag was apparently pretty bad due to everything going down like popcorn, but that's CCP for ya and it wouldn't have changed a thing.
No grudges against you guys, I hope someone frapsed it (someone from BRUCE probably will have, fraps maniacs).

Kudos MDK. Well executed and pretty amusing to watch, even on the receiving end. I do wish CCP would fix the lag, many of us were podded before our ships blew up, no module activations, etc. Not to detract from your from tactic though, even totally lag-free that probably would have been just as effective.
I did fraps it but the footage is probably better from the giving end than the receiving. :D I was actually impressed how with even 50 ships going up nearly simultaneously, comms stayed focused on trying to catch your ships.
I enjoyed the war, particularly the the good nature and lack of smack. Thanks MDK. More wars should be that way, eh?

Respect for using a silly tactic and making it work What a way to end the war.
I have to say, though, battleship losses might have been a bit lighter if it hadn't been for the hell those 140-odd smartbombs gave the poor JH hamsters. We had a couple of Logistics pilots flying around outside the fight but nobody could target anything until you stopped bombing and warped off
On the whole though, great war - I hope to see you guys around, either with us or against us, in the future!

The fight lasted about 4 minutes in which time they did about the same damage as 2 DDD. It was worth the loss of ships to see something like this. Good luck and Good fun.

Smart bombs are fun, I remember a fight over a complex gate right after downtime where both gangs logged in at the gate and it sucks you in to 0km, one gang had nothing but smartbombs.. there were very few survivors on either side.

First of all....ouch. I was flying that lone destroyer in your list. You blew me up so bad, you took out my client and internet connection with my ship and pod (which apparently blew up before my Quill Sliver). Absolutely genius to be honest, there was alot of screaming about exploit this and bug that, but once the adrenalin stopped surging we realized that you simply used a superior tactic that was merely enhanced by the server taking a dump trying to figure out 85 ships warping in along with 100-some-odd smart bombs going off simultaneously. My hat is off to you folks, but don't expect it to work a second time.
Also, my respect to Xaeon, for being very generous in his assessment of what happened, as I had been especting something more to the effect of "jajajajaj, you nubs! we pwnt joo!!!!!111111one".
Still, you spanked us like a red-haired step child.

Thanx for the positive responces.
I just wanted to thank BRUCE for a fun filled war. Overall, your alliance was very respectful, and did not smack talk after battle. You guys responded quickly and efficiently to our gangs. Your use of cov-ops was excellent. Going into the war I did not know much about your alliance. However, over the past couple of weeks I have been gained much respect for you. I hope that you enjoyed the war, and our use of some non-conventional tactics (we like to change up our type of gangs very often). Good luck in the future.

Thanks to the masterminds behind this one, cant belive we didnt loose any more. We created the lag and lag helped us out I guess.
Maybe we'll see this being done by someone else in the future, tho I think bruce really put the pieces together to make it work, they always ganged up to take on us (especially on a sunday) and they would follow us to take us out to 1 gate in jh-.

ready an good and fun thing, bad luck it made soooo much lag that i desynch and crash, i have never been in the battle cos of the lag, it was so strange i got pod killed before my ship was destroyed, but yeah lag is the most powerfull weapon in eve if it works with you you win XD, so to make it short, it was fun only to much lag, hopefully till the next time in space.

Great tactic, well executed !
I was in an Abaddon with 30k armor and 60% lowest resists. The armor just melted and I finally warped out with 37% structure (thanks DC II). I had no clue what happened until I warped back and saw a sea of wrecks.

When a load of them flew right by us at the beginning of the engagement I thought "oh ****, we're dead". Then a load of BRUCE appeared on the screen right next to us and we realised that only one half of their fleet had missed the bubble.
One of the funniest things was seeing a few BRUCE Inty's, that had missed the bubble, MWD straight toward us and instapop.

Credit where it was due; a really impressive trick. Something to watch out for the in future, but probably fairly easily detected/countered once you know what to look for. (And yes, sniper-typhoons should've been a big warning, but you see a lot of weird stuff in Syndicate... saw a Ferox with medium projectiles, small rails, and three types of missiles the other day...)
It's a great trick, to be sure, but I don't think it's one that needs nerfing. If your opponent sees it coming, trapping yourself in your own bubble with no weapons aside from smartbombs...well. Heh.
Definitely kudos to MDK for a neat toy to add to the toychest, though. We don't mind paying a small price in ships to learn something new. (It's why we came to Syndicate, after all!) With BRUCE's love of numbers, we may have to try that one ourselves before too long.
Ya'll come visit us in our new home in a few months, y'hear?

Just wanted to say I'm really impressed with the feedback we are getting from BRUCE. You guys brought the numbers, fought hard, and left the smack behind. Even after the war and the op you guys have a fantastic positive attitude, more Evers need to learn this outlook. Great stuff guys.
As for the phoon not being a good sniper I think you are full of... just kidding, its not a sniper.

I agree with my fellow MDK pilots, BRUCE are very decent bunch, the only smack I ever received was from some angry carebear types in empire who ironically I never ever saw in BRUCE space...LOL
Although I did have a couple of very fun chases with some BRUCE haulers in empire who had great attitudes!
If BRUCE continues on their present course they will do very well for themselves. I know some people seem to hate them, still can't figure out why...but I rather just pew pew pew than worry about the politics...
Anyone need someone blownup??? Contact MDK as we are contract free atm...(we do accept payments of dancing girls....)

Thank you BRUCE for a good time, and a great challenge in pvp,
from what i always heard on vent, it was unbelievable at how fast you guy formed your gangs, quick response times. and the most frightening, was your ability to probe out our safe spots in record times.
in the field you guys brought out worthy combat ships and gave us a run for our money every time. during my time in eve, BRUCE as wartargets were the greatest challenge i have met.
we had some jokes betting i was going to be the first to die from our smartbombs as i have next to zero tanking skills... im sure on the video Xaeon posts, you will be able to see me start to run away before all the others .
I hope to run into you all in the future. but this time, ill be back in my Sabre
p.s. ... 2 years of eve, and that was my first time ever flying a battleship

This was the shortest major fleet action I've seen. I was in a Scorpion, and warped in missing the bubble. Since I was 70km away, I had essentially no lag. So I sat out there jamming 4 BS, lol. 4 minutes later, I'm wondering why our tacklers are letting them warp away.
Our war with MDK taught us a lot, and not just in this battle. Their tactics are inventive, and the pilots skilled. And, hallelujah, no childish smack.
What I'm thankful for is that we had 2 gangs coming from different directions. If it had been one gang, the score would have been 200 to 0.

It's old but still works like a charm, nicely done guys.
For reference. Thekiller8 (S.A.S) killed 29 frigs/cruisers and around 20 capsules in his smartiegeddon solo. That gang was on the way with assigned fighters from pos hugging carriers. 4 september 2006, no dictor, but a small static bubble on the gate.
And I know many smartbomb fests have been b4 that. It's fun when well planned and executed.

Xaeon has done this tactic himself previously....I believe an example can be seen on a previous chapter of his epic MDK series of video's, as well there is another massive smartbombing episode which will also be shown in chapter VIII.
I think what's innovative about this tactic was its scale, not the concept. Had the other half of the Bruce gang landed in our bubble I suspect the results would have been zero losses for us, and 200 or so kills...We know the damage dished was in excess of 2 DDD's...
Lots of risk, but it paid off...we fight outnumbered alot, so tactics to battle larger gangs is a constant topic in MDK...I think we have a few more idea's which we hope to try on other large hostile fleets...
So future targets, remember to keep blobbing!!

in total in that fight we did aprox 4 EM DDs b4 we warped out (worked it out due to total damage on my mega after the fight

o7 Kudos to MDK!
It was totally unexpected! its a killer one-shot tactic if you can succeed in taking out all the dictors. I bet we will be keeping one in reserve for future fights, lest I hope that be the case.
We were impressed by the success of your seemingly kamikazii tactic and your successfully executed narrow departure(even Xaeon's pod got out). I was thinking two things during the fight, with a scorp in the second group at 68 to 100km away firing 4 cruise launchers and jamming 6 targets, it occurred to me that this was our single most undisciplined approach to focused fire as all of MDK's shields were dropping in unison at least the 8 I had targeted. Then there was the thought that folks are doing an insane amount of damage even if firepower is spread out, by now every MDK had less than half armor left, and probably more than some into structure. But then a silent sigh as half the Bruce fleet being vaporised and someone said one word, "smartbombs" and it became clear that we've been had. We have estimated the firepower at about 2 titan DD's.
It will be impossible to hold the field with this tactic vs an opposing fleet in two or more groups as this is a one shot dealio - with this tactic but it was well executed nonetheless. We lost half the fleet within 2-4 minutes. Had we one dictor in reserve the entire debrief would still be an economic success for MDK but a truely kamikazii result for them as well and they knew this risk no doubt that being a significant amount of their own internal discussions. As it stands, thank you MDK for the demonstration, it was... educational and we eagerly look forward to the next time you or anyone tries that again against us. The originality of it, I think is what led to its success this time.

I was one of the people that missed the bubble. Since I had effects turned off I couldn't see the smartbombs go off. It was a good thing I was in my brickphoon and couldn't move that fast. The lag prevented me from firing my cruise missiles or using MWD so I could get my AC's in range, but, since that was the worst that happened to me, I am lucky. I heard a report that smartbombs were being used but I was about 65km from my targets. Once MDK warped out and I saw all the wrecks I realized what happened. I was wish there wasn't so much lag so I could watch the ships go boom and then messed my pants when I realized it was my alliance mates. LOL

Great stuff! Truely amazing! I was in the gang that landed on the gate and not in the bubble. I didn't actually see much as I had 2-3 frames per minute, but I did see the load of wrecks afterwards.

I was one of the unlucky ones that warped smack bang in the middle of the Smartbomb fleet.
As this was going to be a simple head to head engagement I decided my Arizu could stay at home so i took my shiny new Lachesis. I was rather surprised to be landing in the middle of the enemy fleet seeing as I'd warped in at 100 to make use of my EWAR range. You can imagine how much more surprised I was to see that when my screen had loaded my ship had only about 1/5 of structure left. Wondering why I had been primaried in such an engagement i started stabbing my warp button while resigning myself to my fate. Sat there not moving I noticed my ship was sitting next to a wreck so I idly moved my cursor over it only to see it was my ships wreck and next to it was my corpse.
Has to be one of the oddest and yet funniest moments I've had in EVE. Kudos to MDK for the tactics and execution. Never have I heard so much respect given to a BRUCE enemy in vent after a battle.

We appreciate that, its a game where we all want to have fun!! We never underestimate our opponents, infact for our plan to succeed we were relying on your FC and Cov-Op pilots and dictors to be efficient and ruthless, and they didn't disappoint!

For the Fraps try the finalle of the 1812 overture.
It builds up to a superb cresendo with cannonfire and lots of drums and about a minute later it trails off. Usually played at firework displays so works a treat and would last about the right time.

I think if you could get someone to jump into your fleet of Sbing battleships that would be even funnier. This is what I was thinking was about to happen as I read the description in the first post... then again looking like snipers from around 8km off the gate might be tricky.

This wouldn't really work, as the whole gang would jump in and land 20k from the gate in all different directions. On shc someone calculated it would take 70 or so smartbombing bses to cover the gate so that every spot was covered by at least 4 sets of smartbombs.

It was totally unexpected! its a killer one-shot tactic if you can succeed in taking out all the dictors. I bet we will be keeping one in reserve for future fights, lest I hope that be the case.
It will be impossible to hold the field with this tactic vs an opposing fleet in two or more groups as this is a one shot dealio - with this tactic but it was well executed nonetheless. We lost half the fleet within 2-4 minutes. Had we one dictor in reserve ........... *1

Dictorbubbles dies REALLY fast to a gang of smartbombing BS's. It is really not used all that much, but 1 nano-ish smartbomb BS can take out dictorbubbles fairly fast. Same with Bombs.

The sudden death squad used this tactic against aaa a year ago, so no originality medal im afraid. They didn't have as many ships tho, so alot of nanohacs got out, killing lots of recons/intys/dictors tho.

Im guessing that since the video is not up yet that you are having trouble uploading it to eve-files.
Might I suggest that you create a torrent and upload it to mininova, or some other popular tracker?
That way we wont have epic failures of uploading, and the speed will be incredible for everyone (if everyone shares)
