I haven't been coming here often of late so has this may have been discussed ad nauseum already...
Why can't we have new models for all the new ships instead of just re-skinning those that have been around forever? As huge as Eve is the lack of variance especially in BS hulls would be amusing if it wasn't so sad.
Whilst I'm here... Tens on thousands of NPC ships get destroyed everyday. The various factions must have prodigious manufacturing arms to keep up with these losses. Why therefore can't we buy their hulls on the open market? I'm talking all of them, not just the current handful of faction pimp vessels that hardly ever get used. Would add so much more spice to the game to have them all available and at reasonable prices instead of the odd hull type as a rare faction loot drop.
/back to lurking and changing skills til I can get up the interest to play the game again

The new ships coming out are all T2 ships. The definition of T2 is an improved/changed version of the original. New hulls make no sense for T2 ships under that definition. Disagree with the definition? That's the way T2 has been done since CCP first started doing T2 stuff, so some level of consitency has been maintained.

tech 2 ships are upgrades on old tech 1 ships.
personally the only thing I wish is that the EW frigates got new t1 frigates to complament them.
but that would require one more tech 1 ship.

Yep. T2 is just a morphite-enriched T1 hull when it comes to ships. Well, mostly.
I'm hoping for all new designs when T3 comes out, and then a few years from now T4 will be modified T3 hulls. I'll support CCP's right to make the decisions in this game to the very end but honestly another Megathron-based design is just too, too far.

Its not just the fact that T2 ships use T1 hulls its the way they use the same hulls for differing ships in the same T2 class for some of them. Take for example the Caldari Assault frigates the Harpy and the Hawk, 1 is a railboat and 1 is a missile ship yet both use the Merlin hull IMO the Kestrel hull would have been better for the missile ship.

Fair enough. Hopefully the new Minmatar ships will have armor coating more like the Mael and Cane's. Typhoon hull with orderly armor plates and gleaming solar panel thingys would be ace.

I guess its only natural for people to want 'new' stuff at an accelerated rate - but to be frank - there is enough already in game.
I remember when there were only (this is after release) one idustrial, 4 frigs (5 depending), 2 cruisers, and two battleships for each race. To sit on the Amarr gate and watch the battleships role by (they were quite rare then) and the Mallers and Omens was amazing.
Now there are a zillion ships, no one rolls by, BCs, Capitals, super capitals have been introduced. And very recently there was the new BB/BC hulls. I know it may seem like a long time ago, but considering the skill training times and 'progression' in EvE, I think they may be pushing a little too hard.
I would prefer things getting fixed now then a new hull that is broken. . .but maby thats old-fashioned.

Yeah you have a fair point, I'd forgotten all the capital class ships. It was a variety is teh spice kind of wishful thinking post. I was a bit disappointed when I read the blog that all the new BS's are based on existing hull models (think I'd prefer the Marauders to at least be based off the 3rd tier BS hulls).

hey i wonder what about t2 modification of tier 3 battleships: rokh, abaddon, etc. We have seen new t2 raven, scropion, but what about rokh? It could be nice torp. pvp ship or something else.
What do you think about that?

Just a small reminder, they are doing every ship/station/gate/module model up from "almost" scratch to fit the new graphics engine, so...cut them some slack?
