Is anyone actually making any money from these? Generally looking at the markets I can only ever sell a good for about 1/10 of the price I would buy it for.

The supply and demand in for different goods varies from one region to another. Genreal idea is to buy in one region and sell elsewhere. You can make some decent money that way.

Its not anything like it was before, but can slowly be done. Might be better whoring basic ore, working agent missions, or if in an alliance burning the rares. If you can get 3-5 implants a week, you may just be in fat city.

In theory you can still make money on trade goods, but it would involve a lot more travel and a HUGE initial investment, since you'd need to put in large buy orders in multiple regions and wait until you got enough goods to fill an indy... then find a good price, sell what you can, and put the rest on a sell order to catch the demand as it appears.
Pretty hard for a solo trader (I've not even bothered trading after Castor came out), but I bet a trade corp could still make a lot. Of course mining Jaspet and Omber in Empire space probably makes MORE, so I don't know if anyone bothers...

tried it. didnt work. had to invest 30 million. had to pass through systems with gate campers with an indy several times, (i was lucky for some reason). had to spend the whole evening. only made 2 million. wont do it again.

Edited by: Eleanor Scurvato on 03/03/2004 13:04:35 Well, it certainly isn't as easy, but still possible.
Agreed, placing buy orders, to get the best price, and then sell orders to do same is best. But, I can make a good 600k-800k, from a short (3-8 jump) route, once a night.
Its not much, but useful for an alt on auto pilot, through safe lands
Probably best if no one else gets into trading, I mean, what would I do?

Yes, not on day to day trade but in speculation.

Unfortunately trading was ruined by The Patch - why they had to change any of it is beyond me - I know a fair few people that stopped playing the game because the dev team with that patch, basically ruined the game for these people. In my opinion there was no need to touch the trade items and if any of the dev team has any sense, they should revert trade items back to how they were.
There's hardly any profit in it now and theres most definetely no incentive.
Before that patch I used to risk fairly long journeys through unsafe space to reap huge rewards, theres nothing like bouncing around in a bestower with nearly 100 mill cargo through 0.0 space. But for a 50 mill profit I would do that anyday regardless of the risks. Now its an absolute NO NO because the goods and supply/demand values are so poor its not even worth considering. Like lots of people have said you make far more money mining in empire space now than the old days of trade.
It was a huge loss for the trading aspect of the game infact it killed trade items. Ive been watching the markets in hope that 1 day it will return to its former glory. I still have about 200 mill in trade items that I cant shift because its a pointless exercise and I'd be losing money on every item. So they can sit and wait in the small hope that we will see better days again!!!

Yes the trading aspect of the game has died. It was a lot of fun before trying to find that great market item and the best place to sell it before others found out the same info. For those who liked trading it was great. Now there is nothing but pvp or mining - missions are mind numbing...lol

I used to make tons of isk running trade, it's the one thing that kept me from not mining to get into my first BShip.
There is another way to make isk off of these trade goods though, it involves convoys and only looking at Demand for the goods.
