OK. Seems like most of the skills I can train talk about reducing CPU. What I really need is a way to reduce powergrid reqs (already have Engineering 5). What skills should I train as an Amarr to get my energy reqs down? Assume the following setup (I hit a lower power warning with just 3 pulses and SAR+Heat Sink):
High Slot: 3x Medium Pulse Laser II, 1x Rocket Launcher Med Slot: 1x 20km+ scrambler (J5B+), Webifier and 1MN AB II Low Slot: 1x Small Armor Repairer II, Energized Thermic Membrane II, 1x Heat Sink II

Isn't energy management a capacitor skill?
But yeah, advanced weapon upgrades 5 should give a 10% hit to power fitting costs, you can also use power diagnostic systems or reactor control units to increase your total powergrid. I think there's something like an Ancillary Current rig that also does it.

AWU 5 is great, but it will take you a month and a half to get it. Have you tried powergrid hardwiring? +3% cost about 15 mil and +5%s closer to 100 mil.

AWU 5 should take less than 30 days if you have decent learning skills trained and some cheap +3's.

Sure bud. If you are willpower and perception heavy then yeah. But otherwise AWU from 4 to 5 takes just under 4 weeks.
Assuming you have weapon upgrades 4 atm.

4 weeks = 28 days
28 is less than 30.
Why are you two arguing?

These are the ways to improve powergrid. Engineering (+5%/level) Advanced Weapon Upgrades (-2% turret/missile PG use/level) Shield Upgrades (-5% shield upgrade PG use/level, I doubt it'll be useful on an Amarr ship though) Micro Auxilliary Power Core (+10 to +12 powergrid, depending on meta level) Reactor control unit (+10% PG, 15% if T2, up to 18.6% with officer) Power Diagnostic System (+5% PG (+7.5% for faction), cap and shield boni) Ancillary Current Router (+10% PG, rig, about 30M, but I could be wrong). ------------------------------ One more soldier off to war... And one Velator in my hangars. |

Awesome. Thanks everyone. For some reason I thought I had Advanced Weaps to 4 but when I checked it was only 1 . The comments about APC's also helped. Consider my dilemma solved :)

You use medium pulses which are hardest small gun to fit on a frig by far. Reduce to dual pulses if you need... (and never try to fit medium beams on a frig... it_doesnt_work).

Thanks for the tip. That'll give me some "now" damage while I work up my powergrid skills.

Edited by: Ortu Konsinni on 31/10/2007 17:03:10 I'm just kinda wondering what ship the setup in the first post was for. I'm guessing Vengeance? Or maybe Malediction, although I doubt that.
Edit: never mind actually, I just remembered the Vengeance got a 4th low slot a while ago as well... so is it a Malediction setup?
Either way, you might be happy to learn that with their bonuses changed a month or two ago, both Vengeance and Malediction are now missile boats (rockets, specifically), and rocket launchers are a lot easier to fit than laser guns. I know you can still fit both of them with guns if you want, but then you won't get any bonuses. Just a heads-up.
Never mind me if the setup was for neither a Malediction nor a Vengeance, although I can't think of another Amarr frigate with a 4/3/3 setup. --- High quality pics of most EVE ships! |
