Edited by: Faton Prentil on 31/10/2007 06:29:19 i was reading stuff the other day and it said that the solar core temperature is about slightly less than 16MK. how is this measured. i understand using wavelength of radiation to measure temperature but how do you differentiate it from radiation originated from the core if you at all use it to measure the core temperature.

Best guess so far is it is the sun's magnetic field heating it but I do not think anyone knows for sure. Answer that definitively and you'll be famous.

That's because the density at the surface is too high for such temperatures.
Ok, I don't actually know, but that's the theory I'd probably focus on first if I was a researcher in that field.
