Hi there,
I'm flying a megathron at the moment and I read the forums a lot and I allways see that megathron really rocks with those blasters.
Now my question is how does a megathron actually do with those 425mm rails on it in a pvp fight? I also allways see megathrons go down as first in movies and so on. Just wandering is a megathron long range setup good also in pvp and in fleet combats like for instance the tempest at long range.
The movies where i'm talking about probably are before castor patch. I know one thing looks like the megathron in current patch with the hybrid boosts is a lot better as a combatship than before. Cause when it comes to fighting before the castor patch and hybrid changes megathron was a little bit left alone.

Yea the Megatron is very good in both short range with blasters and long range with 425 rails, its bonus is very nice and gives it that little kick which makes it as good as any ship really.
Ive never tried the kamakazi mwd+blaster setup but ive heard that even if you lost all your sheild and took amour dmg getting over to your range against another bs that you would still win they do so much dmg.

One of the many setups for long range on a thron:
Med: 1x emp, 1x thermal, 1x shield booster(depends on skills be it large/xlarge) 1x optical tracking comp
Low: 2x Magnetic Stabs II
I'm sure you could fill out the rest, depending on your character's skills.
Thron can be tanked as well, but then your damage output isn't very high.

Megathrons work quiet well upclose, went up
against a Scorp and Apoc , landed 5km from Scorp -
scrambled and roasted.
And i was a 40% armor and 90% Hull when i engaged them.
(100% shield)
