Edited by: barvo on 07/11/2007 15:57:40 I support the sentiment of this post. There's a whole pile of stuff inbound with this bundle that is going to impact the game massively. People are sitting there thinking "Should I bother training for X, is it going to get nerfed?".
This isn't just about being able to fly a ship or do a particular role with your ships (damps, command ships, drones, carriers etc) but if I decide "Hai - wantz heavy dictor" and start training for it, what guarantee is there that won't be nerfed past usefulness in a couple months?
But it's also about careers. I have an alt that's been skilling up for manufacturing tech 2 ships. Yeah, gee, that's looking good now the price of t2 components is going to skyrocket.
I feel sorry for the people who have invested big sums of isk and time to build carriers in the last few months. Nobody knows where the carrier is going from one week to the next at the moment and it's not surprising the prices are coming down.
EDIT And i wouldn't be surprised if, when people have all cashed in their research points and moved their research over to mechanical engineering, that CCP then decided to change the items that need mechanical engineering and screw them over there too. Sorry, but it's just the way it feels at the moment. /EDIT
CCP, we need some stability and some direction. When we can't rely on things that have been in the game for *years*, what are we supposed to do?

Lately I haven't been much impressed. There are some longstanding game breakers that ccp simply just continue to ignore. Meanwhile we get totally meaningless fluff like booster drugs, heat and bombs. Total waste. And there's a number of economic issues they've handled badly. I mean I can see a number of things that would make EVE a much better game. ccp can't. Instead we get more gimmicks.
Quote: I am sure the torpedo changes are to bring them more in line with blasters and there range/damage.
Unfortunately that's entirely possible. And that's anal retentive thinking. There is no need to bring torps in line with blasters. People that have compulsive needs to do things like that should collect stamps, not work as game developers.
And the Carrier nerf: So carriers are not used exclusively as "ccp intended": Why the F* do what ccp intended have to do with how we play the game? Why are we then allowed to choose modules at all? Command ships are definitely not commonly used as ccp intended. Are they next? In fact I doubt very many ships at all are used as ccp "intended". And a lot of them have even become useless (anyone flying a Moa in later years?) . And ccp don't seem to care.
I have no problem with changes that bring a previously useless ship into play (like the destroyer buff). But changes to force players to use ships in exclusively one certain way is a bit pathological. Again, those persons would do better collecting stamps than messing with game development. A capital hauler is a logical addition. But it should be designed to be viable and useful by it's own merits. Instead we get a horribly expensive pirate target. And we are to be forced to use it by destroying alternatives. It won't work. It will be another gross flop like bombs. Few will use them because even with alternatives nerfed they are still a bad proposition.
Quote: As long as time to impact and the fact torps may be avoided, either by warping away or shooting them down (making the damage zero )has been considered.
You know I just have very little confidence in that that have been considered. And is there a point? Considering all things that will be affected by changes is an endless job.
Don't get me wrong. There should be change. There are plenty things to be unhappy with in EVE gameplay. But are these changes going to affect any of those things in a positive manner? Damp nerf, maybe. But the rest? And are ccp really unhappy with things in the same way as we are unhappy with things? I mean look at that torp nerf. Isn't that the anal retentive stamp collector being unhappy because torps doesn't fit into his neat little table in the "short range heavy damage" column? Or what?

It would be funny if it wasn't true
