"Overall there are more than 3.6 million ships active in EVE. Caldari spaceships are by far the most popular ones with more than 1.2 million flying in space. There are also one million Gallente, 670 thousand Minmatar and 635 thousand Amarr ships. Most of these spaceships are smaller types, ranging from shuttles to cruisers. Shuttles account for a combined 1.3 million of the 3.6 million ships, or 36% of total number of ships."

After seeing this I had to stop and think how much lag this must be causing.
I propose the following, ejected shuttles and noob ships last until DT then self destruct - if left out in space.
This would leave us with 2 million ships and reduce lag in eve by 36%!!!
(ok maybe not - but seriously, these shuttles got to go!)
PS This just makes sense and does not require any comment so please just put it in next patch k?

There are not 1.2 million Caldari ships flying in space (unless people have ejected that many and they're floating in safespots.
It is my understanding that he counted just how many of each racial type exist in the game (packaged or just sitting in the hanger).
I want to see the stats on which races ships are actually being flown at a given time over the course of 24 hours.
This should give us a clearer idea on how popular each ship and race actually is. Caldari I'd assume are actually the most flown due to the mission stereotype and how popular ratting etc. is but I think we'd see a much closer view of Minmatar/Amarr/Gallente ships being flown at a given time. I own like 50 caldari ships but I fly mostly Amarr and Minmatar. Things like that skew his statistics (if he is just measuring how many exist in the game).
