this game has the best quotes ever, here are some of my faviorates (said in a deep space marine commanders voice)
"Better to die for the Emperor than live for yourself."
"An open mind is like a fortress with it's gates open and walls unguarded"
"Knowledge is power. Hide it well."
"Beware the alien, the mutant, the heretic"

Imho still the best w40k oneliner is "Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment."
Isn't in the game I think. Check out the rulebooks, there are a lot more in it. Well, used to be (2nd and 3rd edition). Can't remember if the Rogue Trader book had them too. -- [17:47] <Mephysto> its dead, jim |

I thought WH40k was pretty cool until I turned 16.

I don't remember if these are from the game or the books (been awhile since I have played/read them):
"Some may question your right to destroy ten billion people. Those who understand realize that you have no right to let them live."
"Competence on the battle field is a myth. The side which screws up next to last wins, it's as simple as that." (Just occurred to me I might make that one a sig now I recall it)
"If your battle plan's working, it's probably a trap."

I think a lot of the people who play the tabletop games are creepier now than they were 10 years ago.
I went into one of their shops the other day to buy some stuff for my nephew, and there were all these really creepy people staring at me, it felt really claustrophobic and made my skin crawl. They smelled too.

I haven't been in a games workshop for years now. I sold my 40k Blood Angels a long time ago but I still have my fantasy chaos army. I keep the 2 headed dragon with rider at my desk at work.

I used to collect Tau but now i just play the games. i still love the models for how amazing they look and the skills it takes to paint them but the tabletop version i always found boring and too time consuming to do.

Beg pardon, but that's how I recall GW ten years ago.

The only thing we smelled of 10 years ago was Dorito's and mountain dew after a all nighter.

Hmm. Maybe I just got lucky then, because I could go to the local one, and play a couple of games of 40k or Necromunda with some nice boys and a few other girls, all of whom had good imaginations and creativity, and have a laugh, make up backstories for the characters involved and stuff.
But when I went in the other day, the people there all seemed to have no social skills whatsoever, which is a bit odd for an essentially social hobby. Arguing over the smallest point, no clue how to speak to one another, that sort of thing.

Oh I remember those days. We had 2 box sets of scenery and a friend made a crap ton of buildings that we used for this and 40k.
We were able to make a city on top of the pool table with buildings as tall as 7 stories (miniture height, not ours). We had a 8 gang battle royal that took about 10 hours total. Best game of necromunda ever.

Edited by: Kazuma Saruwatari on 03/11/2007 13:47:43 the only quote that got stuck in my head in the little time I've spent in the WH40K universe was from DoW:
"FOR THE EMPEROR!" when an epic charge of my space marines was attacking my nephew's chaos space marine base.
I turned up my speakers RIGHT BEFORE the "For the Emperor!" battlecry sounded.
Scared half the neighborhood with it
Epic? yes. -

I used to play it was a kid.
DoW is brilliant though, i love chaos. I especially love the battlecries when they charge and just hearing the soldiers going AHA AHAHA!! MAUAHAHA! at random intervals --------------------------------------------

'All who love life fear the reaper'
I never cared much for playing as the panzy Eldar but I liked some of things they said.
