Edited by: Cairo on 02/11/2007 16:37:34 It is currently possible to hide lines connecting star systems, which makes the map somewhat more readable. However, there's nothing to hide distant stars themselves.
I suggest adding a configurable "fog" or "haze" to the map - basically, as stars get further away from the current pivot point of the map (not the "camera" itself), they grow dimmer. The feature could be a single slider, with one end representing "No fog" (like now) and the other "Intense fog". Moving from the no fog end towards the other would gradually make the farthest stars dimmer, until you could only see a handful as you reached the end of the slider. And while I talk about stars here, the effect should apply to all visible items - labels, lines, etc.
This would make it easier to survey a specific area of the map.

Edited by: VJ Maverick on 02/11/2007 18:14:15 This is obviously an important game breaking issue. I'm sure the devs are feverishly working round-the-clock on a solution. Just be patient.
Or if you just can't wait any longer, try pressing F11 instead.

I agree that the map need a UI update. Just being able to limit it to the current region would do wonders for its usability.
The map browser is handy, but it's not as useful as the map, with the filters and the 3D rotation and the what-have-you.

As Reggie said, F11 is no replacement for F10. And the last time I looked, this forum was not intended for reporting game breaking issues, but rather to bring forth ideas for improving EVE in the future.

While I like many of the features in the "new" map it sadly so that many really good features of the old map were lost in the "uppgrade"
I used to do alot in the map, today I usually get frustrated with the way its design works and simply end upp using it less and less.
As an example, why is the sovereignity tab to see the NPC faction sovereigninty status mixed in with all the PC sovereignity?
No offence to all of you that paint 0.0 in such pretty colours however when wanting to check out the empire borders I could care less what 0.0 looks like.
Could we please get a faction sovereignity choise at the top and not have to open the sovereignity folder and search for the All factions and alliances choise in the list of hundreds of player aliances, At the very least make the "show all" always sit on top.
