Hiya!
I'm curious as to exactly how stabilizers protect against scramblers. If, say, the attacker has scram level of 2, and the defender also has 2, do they negate and the defender can warp as normal? Or is it chance-based?
As a follow-up... how many scrams does the typical "tackler" pirate use? If I'm hauling with my industrial, is it wise for me to use all my medium slots on stabilizers? I know it interferes with targetting time, but if I'm not going to target anyways, isn't this moot? ----- Ymandra's Profile |

The warp scrambler needs one more point than you have stabs. Having two stabs means you need 3 points of scramble to stop them warping.
The average pirate would probably be fitting one to two points, although if solo almost always one. Two points requires either getting really close very quickly, or wasting two med slots. This is depending on the ship though, and how many pirates there are.

Stabs go in low slots, but other than that, 2 stabs is usually good enough for most situations, 3 or 4 if you have something very expensive on you.

Ahh, ok, thanks for the info. Anything else that is recommended for evading a tackler/pirate? What do people commonly equip, assuming you want to avoid combat at all costs (flight or flight mentality :P ). Any ECCM to throw off targetting and such? ----- Ymandra's Profile |

eventually, look into blockade runners, quite fast ships with +2 stabs builtin, and mwd capable.. (they are in the transport ships category)

No, bubbles, whether interdictor or anchored ignore stabs completely.

Aside from stabs, you'll want to put inertia thingies on as well, to help you align and get up to speed faster.

The drawback about Warp Core Stabilizers is that they gimp your own targeting capabilities. If you fit them, you'll have trouble locking on to anyone else. So, you have to commit yourself to running away without fighting back (which is probably not a problem for you ^_^). In addition to Warp Core Stabilizers, Inertia Stabilizers can help you reach warp faster since you can align faster. A Microwarpdrive (MWD) would also help immensely in getting away from a hostile, and if you get caught in a bubble, the Warp Core Stabilizers will not help you. You will need the Microwarpdrive to get out of the bubble as fast as possible before you can warp away. ---

Warp Core Stabs (WCS) not only double the time it takes you to lock others, but also increases your Signature Radius, making it much easier for others to target and hit you.
Generally, you'll only want to fit WCS only for travelling, not fighting. _______________________________

Also bubbles can only be dropped in 0.0 "not even lowsec" ___________

Those inertia stabs seem like a good idea too. Now, as to the increased sig radius due to stabs, are there any ECM mods that should be fitted to counteract this disadvantage? Maybe tracking disruptors? Are there any sig-reducing modules? Like "equipping X mod reduces ship sig rad by Y%"? ----- Ymandra's Profile |

There are no mods that reduce a ships sig radius. Some ships like interceptors have a bonus reduction to their sig-radius and the halo set of pirate implants reduces sig-radius. If your looking for an ecm mod to fit in your mids when running I'd suggest an ECM burst. They cause other ships to loose lock on you and unlike most ewar you don't need to have a target locked. A plus when you have warp core stabs fitted just be careful about using them in empire.

note that using offensive modules may prevent you from using jumpgates for a certain period of time

Basic math for warp scrambling/stabilizing
All ships have 1 warp strength, discounting blockade runners
all ships can warp as long as their warp strength is equal or above 1.
Warp stabilizers add +1 to the warp strength of a ship.
Warp disruptors/scramblers are -1 and/or -2
Rest is basic math of course. -

This is confirmed, you can use a MWD in a bubble? Someone told me that wouldn't work, because the MWD is a warp drive. I see them as more like a super after burner. Just curious if this has been proven.

I don't know if it will work in a bubble, but it seems confirmed it won't work in deadspace. ----- Ymandra's Profile |
