I believe that you should be able to combine damaged rig parts (T1 types) into whole rig parts (T2 types). Eg need 5 of the damged type to make 1 whole part.
This could be done at either a factory or using a pos array, using a specialised rig part blueprint (which would also need to be researched to make it more efficient (50% waste unreasearched maybe).

Then you may aswell just make tech II/faction ships just drop lots of tech I salvage  ---------------------------------

I still believe that you should be able to obtain T2 Rig parts from the T2 ships (I know they are also dropped from Faction Rats). I just feel there should be a way to create them by some mean from the damaged parts drops. The manufacture of these would still keep a good market for the T2 rig parts.
The reason for this relates to the cost of building T2 rigs. I recently was fortunate enough to invent a rig BPC, but when I costed this out, it came to over 750mil isk if bought off market.
I think this is creates a situation where it is uneconomical for most players to fund these items for their ships without some changes.
As I originally said, these could be created with blueprints which have a high unresearched waste factor and would require 5 damaged parts on fully researched blueprints. Manufacture (creation/rebuilding) time could take a while also. This would still allow players to still make enough iskies via killing and salvaging T2 ships and faction rats.
As an example, Melted Capacitor Consoles sell for around 650k per unit. These are in high demand. To build a Capacitor Console would require 5 units on a fully researched blueprint. This would bring the cost of a unit of Capacitor Console to around 3.25mil per unit. If created with unresearched Blueprint, this would at a 50% waste giving the price closer to 4.875mil cost.
Being the way the market is, and based upon demand, Melted Capacitors would surely increase in price and also the Capacitor Console would likely be sold around 5-8mil. Curent prices on this item are close to 16mil giving a reduction of 50-60% in prices. This would make the T2 Rigs more in reach of a greater number of players.
In relation to T2 rig parts being dropped from T2 ships, these parts can provide for more than the initial price of the ships they came from. Seeing that they never were created with T2 rig parts in the first place, it seems silly that you can buy a ship and then destroy it and make more than the purchase price?

The drop rate is far too low imo. I think it is not unreasonable to have magnetometric sites and exploration provide a fair proportion more of T2 salvage parts than atm

Whats funny is that I've said this for almost a year now maybe more since rigs came out.
The proper solution is that ALL t2 ships drop t2 salavage....
Whats that not all t2 ships drop t2 salvage...
Nope none of the t2 rats there came into the game with Blood Moon path drop t2. The rats I am specifically talking about are the 350k cruisers etc. This would greatly help the t2 market.
But what do I know... its not like I have been right about this stuff before...

I normal ask my self what ccp intened for a game mechanic do, so are T2 rigs for super capitals as their current market price suggests, in which case I don't think ccp do any think to make them viable for the 96.78% of the player base to have/use.
On the other hand if ccp wanted T2 rigs to be used on say T2 ships and capitals besides super capitals any way to make T2 rigs cheap enought to be worth investing in for your average player is a good thing. While still being exspsive and not overly common.
