I hope there is good news on the Trinity Update during fan fest because its looking like its going to conflict with the Crysis release date and while EVE is good if Far Cry is anything to go by Crysis is going to be awesome.

I guess my point (badly made for sure) is how many EVE platers will get crysis and sideline EVE, like a lot of Halo 3 players have.

You're right a first person shooter is going to drastically reduce the scifi mmo playerbase because a free expansion comes out on that same day!!!

Crysis won't have the staying power that eve will. Crysis = 20 hours of gameplay, with MP and such. Eve = unlimited (in theory) hours of gameplay and huge staying power. Crysis may take a few people, but it won't be significant. ---

Personally I'm waiting for Darkfall, EvE has gotten too carebearish and over "balance". For instance, I sat at the Stacmon gate tonight(friday night) in ostingle for 2 hours and only 2 ppl locked me and no one even shot at me.
One of the more "dangerous" low sec systems in the game and not a hint of pvp. CCP has lost what made eve FUN, and made it more of a chore to log in and do anything. Almost 5 years here, was good while it lasted.
Once DF hit's EvE will loose alot of it's already dwindling long-time player base.
This isn't a "omg nerf, wtf" post's. Just stating a fact that the game is no longer fun and has become more of 2nd job. I wish nothing but GL and thanks for my time here. If CCP ever find their way back to programming a fun game I'll be first in line for it.
Till DF or another good pvp game hit's the market i'll be here, but only half-heartedly. How many must die in the name of God before the Devil is satisfied |

Don't hold your breath on Darkfall - its been "in development" since 2001 and a lot of gaming sites are chalking it up as Vapourware.
Also - could you replace EVE with a fantasy MMO? I coudln't.

I like EVE for the gameplay elements. When a game takes those same elements and does it better I do not care what the setting is.

Well, go to the DF forums and see what's going on there. Look's to me like it's getting closer to beta. BTW, ppl said the same thing about eve 6 years ago and eve didn't have over 10k ppl already signed up on the forums before the game's beta or even after release
As for fantasy vs sci-fi, whatever. I don't care if it's a dead body in space or a headless victim on the ground, the feeling of true loss or victory is what I strive for.
ps. From the looks of it, I'm not the only one who's looking forward to something better than eve. How many must die in the name of God before the Devil is satisfied |

I heard something about a private BETA for DF but I don't know. I think I'll take another look at the forums it's been some time.
DF looks very interesting - there certainly isn't another fantasy MMO like it (permadeath, fully lootable corpses, etc).
Still - I think I'll always need my fix of Eve. I think it's the real life time based skill points system that has me hooked.

Df has basicly taken EvE, WoW, and Obivion and put them all in one game.
But, this is a topic for discussion in another section of the forums. I'm really hoping CCP can turn EvE around. I've been here for a long time and don't really want to go anywhere. The direction the game has been going for the past few patch's tho is very disheartening (sp).
Anyway, i'm out, night all and fly safe. How many must die in the name of God before the Devil is satisfied |

Just to put this into perspective the latest Newsletter for Warhammer online is claiming that half a million people registrants, undoubtedly a lot of those are due to the Games Workshop badge but its still impressive.

Yep, i sure know i will. I cant just play ONE single game, like EVE for example. I would get bored quicker than quick. You gotta have variation, even in a single day :)
Currently splitting my game-time between EVE, Age of Empires 3+expansions, Crysis demo/beta and Hellgate London. And of course Guitar Hero, never forget Guitar Hero! ------------------------- This post represents my entire alliance's views and opinions. Not.. ;( |

There is some heavy Sci-fi mmo titles coming.
Star Trek Online and Bioware's MMO, which is likely to be Starwars in Kotor or Clone Wars timeline.

Yep, can't wait to see what the bioware mmo is going to be. If it's like a Mass Effect mmo then I'll be first in the queue. I'll still play this though just for the details.

A Kotor online would be pretty sex, but the stuff EVEs got in the works will be cool to.

Pfft!
Even the Devs at CCP are gonna play Crysis! It's nothing wrong with that, I play loads of games, they come and go, it's when I get bored of those games I come back to EVE.

I'll be playing Crysis and EVE.
These days, I'm pretty much flying around doing missions, trading and trying to make some ISK. In my situation, it becomes boring a bit so I like to balance my nights with some FPS. Crysis is just what I needed :)
Of course, I'll also have UT3 :D

I'm going to be playing both, but they're mutually exclusive to me. I can play Crysis when I need my mindless FPS fix and EVE when I want to do something more in-depth.

Originally by: Merrick Solipsus Luckily for us we can have both. You can easily beat a new FPS long before the Eve servers stabilize after an expansion. Id say its the perfect time for both companies. :)
rofl... I couldn't agree more.

To even try to compare any console game or even most MMO games to this game is pointless. Their content isnt anything like this game. At least in my experience of games. WoW, EQ, EQ2, LOTRO, SWG... Im still here and not going anywhere. Granted games will come along that take you from this game for maybe a week break or so (everyone needs a break now and then ), but any true Eve fan will be right back in a jiffy. Soooo.. I can honestly say Im really not worried myself and Im sure CCP isnt either.
