I've been thinking about this for a while now and was wondering do i have to ask CCP first? or just to get there blessing because i really think it would be fun to give people what they really want when it comes to having a there most loved ship sitting in there office or even there game portrait on there wall. The only down side is that I need really good pictures to do it with my wood carving tools. So if anyone has anything that might make things a little easy like pic or dementions i would be really happy. You can Eve mail me or RL mail me [email protected]

You have to ask CCP and sign an agreement not to sell them.
By the way no one makes stuff out of lead. /start sig I love old characters that post 'I've beeen playing the game four years' when I know their account has been sold on. /end sig |

By the way no one makes stuff out of lead. Pewter would cost you a serious amount of isk. By the way I'm not sure wood give the level of detail thats required, good for Gallente ships though.
youve never been into a board game store have you? about 50% of the miniatures for table top boardgames are made out of lead, the rest are pewter.. (well theres plastic too, but they are poor quality)
agreed, wood would not bring out the details, and wouldnt be very easy to paint either.
and yes pewter is very expensive, but many many tabletop games out there use them.. and they come ou to be about 8$ for a 1.25inch/3cm miniature... although, they have execellent detail. _________________________________________________________ Only once you've lost everything, are you free to do anything.

Yes I have been in a games store. I'm sat looking at a load of gaming stuff on my shelf. Figures from Fullthrust, Stargrunt, Warhammer, Spearhead, Hybrid, Warmaster and a Roman DBA army.
Some figures still have amounts of lead in them, However most are now tin. Depends on the maufacturer. For instance Prince August sell three types of white metal for casting and as you can see there are different types. Whether the generic Games Workshop figures contain lead anymore I don't know, you'll probably starve to death paying the stupid prices before you die of lead poisoning. If you suck one everday for a year you may get a slight case of lead poisoning.
Model metal is the easiest to cast with it contains a large amount of lead, making it heavy and bismuth to improve the amount of fill. Standard metal is the cheapest like model metal this is a tin/lead alloy but uses antimony as a flow improver. 5 Star metal is best if people are going to handle your miniatures unpainted this is mainly an alloy of tin and zinc. Model metal melts at 138¦C (280¦F), while standard metal melts at 210¦C (410¦F) and the Five star metal melts at 230¦ C (446¦ F) /start sig I love old characters that post 'I've beeen playing the game four years' when I know their account has been sold on. /end sig |

Im making a model drake out of match sticks after being inspired by the wooden 'cane (cant rember who made it). Mine isnt as good, but im pleased with how its comming along. I didnt ask CCP I dont think they would mind your not mass producing them or stealing thier custom. I would hope they would be pleased people are making these. If I planned on selling them I probably would ask just to be safe. I wanted to make a brutix but im not very handy with a chizel (maybe another time) so decided to go with a nice boxy drake.
Matchsticks take along time mines about 40Cm long so quite a few involved, but if you, like me find youself with some free time and cant / dont feel like playing Eve (lol?) then I would advise it for an easy desk-top hobby, I just leave mine there with some glue and pick it up occasionally and stick some more matchsticks on.

I dont know how good you are, but personally i'd prefer if it was an official CCP 3d model of the ship which was then carved out with one of those 3d printer laser carving thingys. ------------------------- This post represents my entire alliance's views and opinions. Not.. ;( |

or maybe...
"Myrmidon - A Gallente Drone ship of some distinction. Rolls two 6D dices when rolling to damage. On a roll of 10+, the Myrmidon is hit by the Nerf Bat, and automatically counts as lost as you angrily reprocessed the ship or sold it on the market."

Pewter can be cheap just go to a thrift store and find an 8 pack of pewter cups for 1.99$ that's enough to build a full scale tank not really but still... It's not like the stuff is hard to melt you can do it with your stove. The stuff is cheap if you know where to look.
Vagabond on a roll of 2-12 you are immune to being attacked on a roll of 1 the server lagged GG.. |

I was just wondering how people would feel about some type of ship, The only pain is getting the pic's of all the ships and how to make it look right with all the little details. I seena really cool tool for doing the pilot portraits Now If CCP could cut a deal with the model makers i would be really happy..

easiest way would to extract the eve models then rapid prototype them. just need to have access to a rapid prototyping machine and someone generous enough to let you use it for making eve models...

Check out that 'Showroom' application. It lets you look at the ship models. Might help you get started. Not sure the link - but just search for it.
