Hi everyone, Let me start from the begining.
-Attempted to download and install Eve at school. 1)When installing it said the file was corrupt.
-Got my 2GB flash drive from home with a pre-installed Eve on it. 1)Attemted to use Eve. It worked but the Status was.... Unknown 2) Found out it was the school's Remote ISA server not allowing Eve to work. 3) looked in all threads with the search 'ISA server', lots of tips, but most were impossible for me. 4) tried unblocking the port that Eve uses on Microsoft Firewall. Then found out the firewall was turned off, so could not be the problem. 5) trying to ask everyone myself.
I've tried everything I can to make Eve work ( please note, I'm only using Eve on weekends ( I'm at boarding school ) as there is NOTHING to do as most people go home then but I can't because I live in Shanghai currently. )
I can't use any programm that connects you to another computer to play on eve. I can't download most programmes that really help, like one that actually will tunnel or bypass the ISA server as my school also has SurfControl. I tried fiddling around with the prefs.ini in the cache, tried changing 'networkadvanced' to '=1' but it did not change anything. ( it is supposed to let you type in an IP address or something )
If there is anyone out there who can help me, I will be very grateful if you do.
Thanks in Advance.
P.S. I am new to all this proxy tunneling, IP port watdoyoucallit things so please make it simple. ( I'm only 14! ) Also, I know my school's ISA server's IP and port number ( port: 12209 ( and something called a res locator on port 12202 ) IP: 10.1.2.100 )
P.P.S. If CCP had got any suggestions please let me know, im wasting ALOT of money by not going on Eve ( my feeble excuse )

You need to be able to access port 26000 from your computer. If that doesn't work then try the instructions here to use port 3724.

When I tried to use Networkadvanced=1 in the prefs.ini nothing changed.
I can't allow port 26000 to open up ( or port 3724 ), because, as I said, the ISA server is in the server room, 50m away from where I am now, and I cannot access it. ------------------------------------------------ Please send me some ISK. |

Try changing the port eve uses, it might work. Otherwise, you need to look up tunneling.

Pretty much every uk institution does this.Get to halls, unpack, plug in, no eve. then they blame us for drinking instead. The idea being all their network, the one you are paying for, is for study only i.e you're paying them for four years to stop you having fun. Sadly there is no guaranteed way around this short of asking the admin to open the port you need (they always understand).
You could always try this though, no promises but it's reasonably reliable, and they do let you try it for free (or use it for free if speed is not an issue) so you sand with nothing to loose tbh

The ISA server is probably run, or perhaps partly run, by a student volinteer who's part of the IT program at your school. Find out who it might be and talk to him. Bring Pizza. |

If you can login via ssh you can try that:
putty -D 5000 -P 22 -ssh [email protected] -pw your_password
and after that use sockscap, opening eve via localhost, port 5000

and beer... can't forget the staple of us college students is pizza (cold or hot) and beer "You don't have a soul, you are a soul. You have a body." C.S. Lewis. |
