I just created a second account yesterday using the power of two. However, I think I want to change the character stats a little more to get better attributes (ended up with ok-ish mem and intel and too high percep IMO). So I want to make an alternate for that new account and create another character to see what the attribs end up being. If I can make a better character alt, can I then delete the main I created yesterday and move the alt I make today into the main slot? Or should I just delete the character I made first and start fresh?
Also, if I delete the character, does the name because re-available instantly?

10 hours to delete a character
There is no 'Main' slot. It's just whichever character you decide to use.
If you're worried about getting it just right, you know you can use the back arrows [<<<] in the character creator to go back and 'fix' things...
Just remember what you did, because more likely than not if you spend more than a few minutes making a character, you get the 'connection lost' when you hit the final button, and knowing what path you finally settled on will make the second try go faster.

Don't worry about which "slot" your character is in at the log in screen. As soon as you log into your alt it will be moved to the "main slot". The last character that you used is always in the center, the other two off to the side.
As for reusing a name, yes it is instantly available after deleting your character. This is the main reason for deleting your first character before recreating a new character.
BTW - There is a 10 hour cool off period before you can complete the deletion of a character, but as soon as you complete the deletion you can reuse that name, either on that account or another.
