ugh.... arguably one of the worst possible NH fits I've seen..
Mids- depends on active or passive tanking setup (not going to stir that pot!) But you're seriously gimping your tank by fitting tackling mods. Nighthawk was never meant to be a tackler! Get in a gang, and realize that you're not a heavy damage dealer or a tackler, just a damage sponge.
imo (and I fly one) Nighthawk is about the worst Field CS for pvp ____________________

NANO IT!!!
Oh wait, it's Caldari (read: heavy).
I'd love to try some out of the box setups with it (when I can finally fly it), but it is just way to expensive for me. --- Amarr/Caldari, and proud of it.

Fit a full passive tank, a gang mod, and heavy missile launchers. You will do less damage than a drake but tank like a champ (which is your job, tank and provide gang bonuses)

Do you actually fly a nighthawk? Doesn't sound like you do. Here's the bonuses:
Battlecruiser Skill Bonus: 5% bonus to assault missile, heavy assault missile and heavy missile launcher rate of fire and 5% bonus to all shield resistances per level
Command Ships Skill Bonus: 5% bonus to heavy missile Kinetic damage and 5% bonus to heavy missile precision per level
Role Bonus: 99% reduction in Warfare Link module CPU need
Sure you could fit a gang mod...but with 3 bonuses for damage and 1 for tanking, that would be dumb. If you want gang mods, fly a vulture.

I'd love to find out where people get the idea that the Drake outdamages a Nighthawk. It's really quite odd. Do the math (or fly them!).
Drake - 7 HML II's 3 BCS II's (not likely, but I will assume an active tank) Firing Scourge w/ my skills, this setup on the Drake will put out 323 DPS
Nighthawk - 6 HML II's 3 BCS II's (which still allows a serious passive tank) also firing scourge, this puts out 350 DPS. I also have the ability to add an autocannon which takes me up to 375 DPS and that doesn't take into account the precision bonus, which makes anything cruiser and below take a much higher percentage of that raw DPS from the Nighthawk than they would from the Drake. Lastly, you use less ammo on a Nighthawk.
Also note that you can add 5 light drones for ~85 DPS, but that is uniform across both so i did not show it in the calculations above. With that added, my Nighthawk puts out 459 DPS.
To reference the original poster: When I started PVPing, I found that the Nighthawk was not terribly useful in most engagements. I ended up training Minmatar cruiser 5, boosted my navigation skills, and picked up tech 2 autocannons and artillery. Now I fly a Sliepnir for PVP and it works much better. That also has the benefit of giving a bonus to skirmish warfare links if you want to use a link. Your gangmates generally like skirmish links....

First of all, with decent fitting skills you should be able to fit those highs and mids without any PDSs in the lows. Second of all, you really can't fit a Nighthawk for solo-pvp. Shield tanking ships with relatively few mids (Drake has 6, Nighthawk has only 5) will have trouble fitting a tank after the obligatory MWD/Web/Scram combo. True, Sleipnir only has 5 mids as well, but those are speed tanked along with fitting a minimal shield tank. Nighthawk is 1.5M kg heavier than the Sleipnir, with the same number of lows, with crappy dps within web/scram range.
In short, don't fit a Nighthawk for solo-pvp.

The vulture passive tanks only slightly better...Given it can use 3x gang mods the NH's role is to provide dps nearly forever as it can tank....Think of it as a black drake.
