Sister Impotentata Caldari State War Academy	Posted - 2007.11.06 00:06:00 - [1] OK so I live way out in the sticking-out-into-the-ocean part of New England, and I got WTFPWNED by Noel this past weekend. I lost power Saturday morning and just now this instant got it back (of course the EVE forums were my first stop. Before ozzie pron even!) So anyways, when I lost power I was in the middle of training a brand new suite of 15 minute skills. Yeah I know. I lost out on, what... eyedeekay six thousand sp or so? Horrible loss . But you know, you play this game, you get to worrying about making things count. So I got to thinking... What's the best way for a guy with no real access to the EVE client to manage his skill training? In my particular case I had no power. But what about the poor soul who's going on vacay for two weeks. Or the guy with the broked HD that won't arrive in the mail for three days. Is there an 800 number we can call? Or even a 900 number? Do the Sisters of Eve run a hospice service? Maybe I talk to the guy what makes the exxa-exxa-special subgum "you make good, make price I pay." Take away the flying around part and you make EVE into a space themed spreadsheet application.

Akkarin Pagan Minmatar Raddick Explorations Executive Outcomes	Posted - 2007.11.06 00:28:00 - [6] Personally when natural disasters (well ok, forgetting to pay the ISP bill, or breaking my PC in some way) I ask a friend (who got me into eve) if I can borrow his pc for a few minutes, and set myself a skill training that way. The only other current option is to let someone you trust IMPLICITLY have your account details and do it for you. I know this is a breach of TOS and EULA, but the ban hammer only seems to fall on those who abuse that trust and get petitioned by an irate account owner who should have known better. Doesn't help in your situation, as I guess any friends living locally would also have lost power and connection. (I imagine it helps if you know the person in RL, 'cos then you can hit him with a baseball bat if he ****s you over ) Akkarin Hopefully the mods won't play with this one <3 - Immy

However something about the way you said that got me thinking. I bet, of all the guys I used to play BF'42 with, none of them would have any interest whatsoever in EVE. I haven't talked to any of them in a couple months at least, but any of them would at least dl the client and let me walk them through a skill change. "I gotta click, hold on, click where? What? Ferget it. I'm wiping this trash." Well, maybe not. Oh wait. I only talk to those guys on the internet. No power no talkee. To talk would require phone. Went driving around tonight though and a few homes and street lights are still without power! Drop me an eve-mail sometime dude, I've been wearing my Eve shirt for weeks and no one has ever said anything about it QQ. Take care =P

The only thing I can think to do is set a long skill training before bad stuff goes down. Or call a trusted friend (if you can and REALLY trust them) to switch your skill for you maybe or go to someone else's house and hijack their computer for the same reason. Whatever you can do I guess. +++++++++++++++ I saw the Sign...! O.o

I bought a UPS a while ago and only later realized it's futile for power shortage + skill changing situations, as I can't plug the router to the UPS, so I'll loose internet as soon as power goes out. (unfortunatly they are addicted to those gambling and **** sites) Computes in Public Libraries and Schools are just as unsecure if not more so. Some sort of que would be nice. Where can select a skill to train after the current finishes. I dont think more then one skill should be alowed because i can see people cuing the entire carrie set and then letting a sub expire for a year, then reactivating it for sale on forums. But setting a skill to start after the current ends would be nice for vacationers etc. I usually dissapear into the deep woods fora month every summer and there are only so many battleship 5 skills I can set. be nice to set some options in how to fill those 30 days.
