I have had a couple accounts with this game since beta and I just recently came back to start playing again after a couple year break. I have never graduated from noob status however.
I just recently purchased a destroyer, but when I go to mount any kind of turret or equipment I use up my ships entire cpu and power grid with just one turret. I have a caracal loaded to the core with rocket launchers and some other mods, but I cannot mount one turret to my destroyer?
What am I missing here? Is this a skill thing or is this a modding thing that I jsut need to get the hang of? As an example, what would be a good loadout for my destroyer if I were to use it for complexes? |

a) you're using the wrong turret size b) your fittings skills need some leveling c) you try to put too much stuff on your ship

I'm guessing here that you use the same turrets, launchers you'd use on your Caracal, that be MEDIUM sized ones. Destroyers, being roughly friagte sized need SMALL turrets, which have way fewer requirements.

Actually, I really am a dumb noob, I only have light assault launchers on my caracal.
I tried 125mm Railgun wich took 3/4 of my resources, and I tried light missle launchers which took almost all of the resources. Just ONE missle launcher or railgun is doing this so it cannot be that I am trying to put too much on my ship.

You are referring to a single "125mm Railgun I" taking up huge amounts of resources on your Cormorant? Can't be. The Cormorant, without any of your skills being taken into account, can fill all seven of its turret hardpoints with 125mm railguns without taking up all of its powergrid or even half of its CPU.
Also, rocket launchers take up far less in the way of resources than assault missile launchers, so I am confused about what point you are trying to make about your Caracal.
So I need you to be very specific about what your ship is and what you are trying to fit to it. What you are describing doesn't make sense, and the odds are leaning closer to you being confused over your ship/module than they are to the game being buggy.

assault launchers are good against small targets (lvl 1 missions). but about that 125mm railgun, on what ship is it? no way that is on a caracal =o...
and i used to fit 7x 125mm railgun + 1x standard missile launcher on my cormorant...

The caracal can hold its weapons and mods plus some.
The ship I am having problems with is a catalyst. It is a destroyer but I can barely put one small turret (launcher or rail) without using all my resources. Why?

Edited by: DubanFP on 07/11/2007 03:44:28 I just have to ask. When you bought your corm did you actually switch to the ship or is there a chance that you are you still flying an ibis? Do you have the required skills to fly a Cormorant and get denied? ___________

do I need to take a friggin screenshot before I can get a serious answer?
I am not that dumb of a noob, I know how to tell the difference between the ship I get everytime I die and the one I just picked up from a station 3 jumps away.

Before you start insulting me you're obviously making a very newbish mistake somehere and i'm just trying to start from the ground up. There's absolutely no way what you're saying can be true, you must be mistaken somehow. Now are you sure you're even flying a destroyer and not some other non-combat ship? Not flying a bantam or anything?
Also fitting rockets to a caracal is simply AWEFULL. That's bearly any better then not switching ships. What else do you have fit besides guns? ___________

Yes. I want a screenshot of your Catalyst's Fitting sub-tab on the Show Info while you're in it and you have the turret equipped. Drag the bottom of the window down until all the Info is displayed so I can see all of it. Then we can visually verify what is indeed going on.

I'm gonna have to side with the others and call, "I doubt it." This is the newbie forum, so I'll be kind. There's no way anything you've said is true if you really know what you're doing. I could create a purely trade alt and be able to fit a destroyer better than you by only training frig and Destroyer.
Please give us more info so that we can truly help you, otherwise there's zilch we can do.
