Hello,
If you are mathematically inclined please help me out
Which is a better, more damaging fit for a Deimos: RCU + Neutrons or Ions and an extra Mag Stab?
Thanks!

It gets 543 with maxed skills and neutrons,601 with ions and magstab.

I won't even do the calculations but use common sense... afaik ions with mag stab will either be equivalent to, or better than, neutrons without dmg mods AND choosing ions will seriously help your tank due to the lesser fitting requirements.
Someone might be of a different opinion but I doubt they'll tank as well and they certainly won't deal more dmg.
I personally even use two mag stabs...

Ions also get better tracking, however the neutrons get an amazing extra like 500m range!
I'd say fit ions unless you want to go full gank in which case neutrons are for you.

My Deimos always has 1 Mag Stab- What I'm wondering is if a second Mag Stab with Ions does more bonus after the stacking penalty than an RCU + Neutron setup.

maybe I'm not getting you right but it seems like you're asking the same question which got an answer as quoted above?

Deimos is a gank ship so in my opinion neutrons and 2 magstabs are the best way to go...
but to answer your question more damaging should be the setup with ions and a second magstab

I've personally ran both fits, using neutrons does hurt the tank significantly.
You can fit an current router in a rig slot and run a full rack of neutrons without having to fit an RCU but that takes up a rig slot that could be used for a nano pump or other such things.
Best bet is to just run Ions with 3x mag stabs. leaving your rigs open for some armor rigs or whatever else you please.
but Mathematically a Neutron Deimos will suck up more cap per shot (already enough cap problems) and do as much if not a little less than an ion setup with 3 magstabs.
True you can lose a bit of tank fit the current router and go a full 5 neutrons with 3x mag stabs and gain a tiny bit more DPS, but nothing that would allow you to have the upper hand on somebody who runs Ions and decent tank (even though it's common knowledge that Deimos has a paper tank with resists barely scratching 75% on 3 resists with a damage setup.

Deimos does not have a tank, its cap is too unsteady to support a real tank, unless you drop a mid for injector, which would likely not fit given average skills. Use plate to give ya a buffer and go gank, this ship is meant to melt stuff.
Personally I use a neutron setup with 800 RT plate and pg rig, and my experience has been that a medium repper will wtfpwn your cap, regardless of what guns you have, so small repper is the way to go imo. Just get that hp buffer on there and go for damage. |
