I started to load up WoW while the server was down here. I got to the character select screen and started to remember my promise about never going back to Wow....
Whines and crap aside, when the servers do come back up in Eve, and I log in to find that x has happen to my ship, is it even worth complaining about and seeing if it can be fix or should I just take it standing up and move on to buying what ever it was that I lost ?

IF you suffered any loss then petition it, you'll get it back if the loss was due to the crash.
You'll probably find that you'll log back in a nd your ship will be fine though. -------------------------------------------

My wife still plays, she thinks Eve is terrible. That is just because anything that makes her think for more then 2 mins hurts her head.
**She has no idea that I post on these boards, so it is rather safe for me to run my mouth about her.**

ive played wow since january and started EVE here about 5 months ago i think, and i admit there are still times when i get back on wow everynow and then but the only reason for that is i have a couple good friends of mine that play it, and i am unable to convert to eve without falling to the dark side of the Force. one of the things i love about eve is that there is sooooo much more to do, it is truly a unique experience and granted the daily downtime may seem troublesome but with where i live that usually happens just as im waking up and getting ready for work so it usually doesnt affect me much. not to mention the fact that the wow folder takes up almost 8 freakin gb of space while eve is a slim trim 1.5gb

Meh, I have WoW on my computer too, though I haven't been playing for a little while.
Honestly, WOW to MMOs is what McDonalds is to restaurants. Sure you don't want it everyday but occasionally you get that bacon double-cheeseburger craving that you just have to satisfy. YOu know it's crap, you know you'll likely have the runs after but you still want it.
That's wow. Well designed, it is what it is. I don't really think they pretend to be something they aren't.

Facts are:
EVE could learn a lot from WOW, WOW could learn alot from EVE.
WOW is the best in it's genre of MMO, EVE is best in its.
As simply MMOs, you can't compare them, as they are basically the same hooie, except in succesfulnes, and WOW wins that.

I don't really recall, but I don't remember a big push for Eve in mainstream media here in the states. (I really could be wrong about that)
From face value, WoW looks like the king, and Eve has you scretching your head wondering where the hell it came from.
Now playing the two, you are right, each are good at what they repersent. I still think Eve is a much deeper game over WoW.
I also think Eve should do, or do again a large push here in the states, I think they would be rather surprised on the good results they would get.

Not really. WoW has more interesting PvE encounters than I've seen in all other MMORPGs so far. Ok, I've been playing WoW for about 5 months in 2005 and had seen almost high-level content that existed until then. Can't say that about the maybe dozen other mmorpgs I've tried out. Some of them seemed to be so boring in the beginning already that I had enough after a few hours or less. Mainly the asian grindfest MMORPGs. Things like big flashing XP scores rising up after each kill and dozens quests like: 'Kill 10 giant spiders.' and arcade-like sound effects make me shiver. I don't want/expect gameboy, pacman or tetris atmosphere in an MMORPG.
Usually it goes for me: 'Ah nice, found a new trial or got into another beta. Let's check it out.' Then I'm downloading a client that's a few Gigabyte in size. After a few hours max I think: 'What a boring game, screw this.' and then I delete it from my HD again. ___________ I've never been so serious as I am now. No, really. |

Edited by: Sheriff Jones on 06/11/2007 20:03:06 Do true, EVE does have a deeper feel to it. But also has a deeper pile of poo to drown in. People don't like ****iles when they want fun.
Different strokes.
But what i find extremely funny, is how some of EVE players are so keen on saying "Don't come here and say you want EVE to be like WOW!", when they haven't even played 5 minutes of it and don't know what WOW is.
I'm about to write a thread about EVE, what is lacking, in a serious and observant manner, and of things that could help EVE, and i will be borrowing stuff from WOW and comparing them. I know it'll make most just click reply and say something generic, but i find what i've written so far is rather, non-sided.
