I mean I want to pod some of these people over and over again back into their noob clones... can't imagine if I had the power to do it with 1 command line

ummm, i don't really think that this is a question to the devs, but maybe to the forum mods. although i am sure they browse the forums like the rest of us. honestly from the topic i was expecting some question about game mechanics.
and tbh it's really the same on every game forums and goes with the territory of mmo customer service... just be glad they actually listen to us and tell us about things before they are released. what else do you expect the community to do with these forums when some change is announced? it is customer feedback, whether negative or positive. and despite those who whine and rant, there are many of us who actually offer suggestions instead of just trolling and complaining.
oh and if you are referring to the "server is down" threads, i think they mainly exist because we would rather be playing... but we can't, and we want to know any updates on the server situation as soon as possible... so naturally we go to the forums and talk about it. again, it goes with the territory - check the forums of any mmo when their servers goes offline unexpectedly.
~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ Take away the risk and it would make flying around in space utterly pointless.
Take away the flying around part and you make EVE into a space themed spreadsheet application. |
Because I like getting paid at the end of the month?
In between are valuable comments, good suggestions and accurate bug reports. When reading the rest I comfort myself in the knowledge that the ever increasing subscriber numbers of EVE indicate that there is a silent majority out there that likes what we're doing. That doesn't mean I dismiss the complaints, I read them and evaluate them in case we messed up.
EXACTLY! Like in every single other game! Especially mmo's! The only people whining on the forums about this or that, nerfin that or this, is the minority.. The majority is playing the game, and accept what it is. If they think lasers suck, they say "okay, thats how the game is, lets try to find a way around it, damage mods?".
Its like this on every single game forum. The minority whines and whines, making their voices appear as if its the opinions of ALL players, and they force changes upon the game which most people actually didnt want. Nerfs or boosts.
Imo the only whiners are the guys who think that each ship in the game has only one setup, and until you've figured out what it is, you're wasting it...
The majority of us are adaptable, motivated, driven by a love of the game, and delighted to see each change introduced. If everything stayed the same all the time, there would be no progress.
There are several overpowered ships and items in the game, some of which I have, some of which I'm training for. I feel guilty flying one of my ships.
But guess what? When these things are nerfed I'm not going to complain about it!!! I'm just getting as much fun out of them as I can, while I can. I can't wait until someone at CCP notices the problem with hull repairers (they're effectively useless), but I'm not going to start a whine thread about it - that little comment will do.
It is such a shame that whiners have the same access to the forums as us silent-ish players like myself do, in that they will always abuse it. But it's only recently I've actually felt compelled to post - if only to balance out all the bloody crying.
Lots of broken hearts out there CCP, some lesser-evolved players are terrified that some things might become difficult... oh noes!!!
Want my suggestion? Nerf 'em all to hell until they quit the game.
I say shut the GD forum down. Let everyone who has a complaint send it to [email protected]
Then the ccp guys can auto reply to the email with a "thank you very much, we will take that into consideraton" and concentrate on making the game they want.
Then to really make it interesting create an eve-mail only character on sisi for the people that put the time in to test stuff to make suggestions and critique changes.
Of course that will never happen.
I think my sarcasm meter just went off the scale... I need a beer.
Ok guys heres a game forum 101 guide.
1: Most players are nubs, they play their game and are oblivious of changes coming, they need protecting. 2: The smart you are the more concerned you get about a games future if you like the game, thus you post on the forum. 3: Developers are human, humans by nature are imperfect, hence devs are imperfect. If a dozen devs like an idea but a hundred players think its idiotic, then listening to those players is a smart move. 4: The more hard core players get more people in the game, they buy more accounts and generally for a game like EvE, run the infrastructure 'production' and run the alliances. CCP needs those players. 5: Alcohol is bad, MKAY! 6: If a company truly wants to know what the silent so called majority want or like, then they should ask then. Its not hard to have a YES/NO referendum on the login screen, one vote per account. But game companies are afraid of such a concept so... 7: Forums have lots and lots of useful information, those who use forums post that information, even the silent masses use it and follow those guides. So respect those who post that information. 8: CCP is in iceland, vikings settled iceland. Therefor if CCP gets antsy pantsy about what someone said, then they should learn a little bit of aggression. Anger makes the world go round. May the ancestors be remembered.
