ofc this has nothing to do with violent computer games and movies. Someone from the mass told hime behind the church. Or perhaps his teachers. Or a bus driver. Perhaps a passer by. It wasn't the video games, no.

Hi jack!
Seriously though, you're an idiot. People have been watching violent movies (Wild west in the early 20th century, extreme horror in late 50s - 80s, and extreme gore / effects from 90s onward) and why has it had no effect on anyone until just recently?
I wonder... ---

Call me a twisted, foul creature but I can't help but respect this kid. Killing one's parents is never good, but to attempt to hire a professional to kill them..wow.
I can't help but believe that this kid would have gone far in the world, had he not*****ed things up.

Yeah, kids these days must be getting REALLY good at hiding it too. I mean why else would the amount of reported crimes "particularly in the younger age groups" be at a 27 year low when we all know violent video games have raised a generation of criminals. I mean seriously, it's almost scary to think how good they must be at hiding this stuff now. /sarcasm ___________

that's awesome... what a horrid little child. Best is he's being tried as a juvie. Normally, I'm all for children being treated differently than adults (insert classic liberal stance here blah blah blah)...
cases like these? take him out back and put one in his head... things like him don't rehabilitate and he'll just get worse in prison. Best end it before he gets out and kills successfully. __________________________________________________

i think there is probably more to the story. the mother was rather quick to disown her son. i wonder what her role was in producing such a depraved bundle of joy.

No, there is some truth about video games and media contributing to things like this. In WWII, the first US soldiers to see combat were having trouble with killing the enemy. Soldiers were cautious, slow and sometime would not pull a trigger when they knew their action would kill someone. At that time, training involved bulleye targets. After these psychological interviews were made (and lots of such studies were done in WWII), the targets were changed to human silhoutes. And the shooting rate of US soldiers increased dramatically with those trainees. Video games are not the reason, but could be considered a part of it. |

I think that it's just abundance of information- I'm sure these kind of things happened half a century, century and two centuries back. It's just word about it didn't get around much. But now, I can take my morning coffee, sit behind my computer and read what is going on in the world. And most media coverage is about shocking and horrible events. It's never about how a couple married happily or someone got a raise (if its not celebrities ofc), because that would be boring to readers. modern mass media and its news coverage is only reason why we feel that world is going to the dogs. but in reality everything is same, just nobody knew about it :P
