How the hell am I supposed to see these pretty ships? If I zoom in, I can't see the field of battle, are we getting an Elite style 3d radar on the tactical overlay, or are we just getting unnecessary lighting?
You can't even see a ship burning with hull damage unless you lock it. Graphics without purpose are just for selling games to children.
So why arent you playing Elite instead? Or why arent you playing a space game with just numbers and math? Why even have a graphical interface at all?
Answer, because its FUN 
Most of us enjoy pretty things, it doesnt matter if it is a piece of music, a woman, or graphics in a game.
Its who we are as humans, we arent computers.

Hmm no turrets in video, so I wonder if CCP is still working on proper turrets sizes or CCP is just hiding they did not make any changes to turrets at all.

But I'd trade it all for lag being fixed instead :/
First we were told it was our fault coz of the drones, then when that didn't fix it, it was our fault coz of the instas, that hasn't fixed it either - this development is nice eye candy, but I'd rather see the graphic design subcontractors laid off, and coding/hardware contractors hired instead to make the game we have more playable - then give us the fancy graphics.
Playability is everything - graphics are a nicety

Yeah, i was wondering about this.
They need to make two models of each ship they make from now on. Seems rather, well, nice to say the least, but alos more work for the graph department.
Also wondering if the UI content etc is double-engined too.
I don't really know how this new engine works so, sue me

Shame none of the ships have any turrets fitted. Don't tell me someone forgot to model new ones, and the autocannons still look like two cereal boxes glued together

nice thanks for the link.
i was wondering, do ships get new animations as well? in the trailer they showing the rifter banking sharply down and to the right. right now, if you were to click to the right and down of your ship, it would just turn that way, not bank.
anyone know?

lol you don't keep up with the current and upcoming mmo games much do you?
tabula rasa was in development for over 5 years, thus even with a reworked engine it still lags behind. doesn't mean its ugly though. if you ever tried played it on high settings you'll know.
WoW is an old mmo that needed to be as graphically unintensive as possible to attract a large playerbase with many varying computer setups
RF had a very short budget, and is also pretty old now. plus its free, what do you expect?
SWG is ages old as well.. how can you possibly compare eve with that? why don't you go and say "OOOH HORIZONS IN YOUR FACE!"
stargate, well i was never interested in it, so i dunno
don't get me wrong, this totaly pwns graphically wise (at least in my opinion, and im sure most players here would agree) most of the mmos that are out now, but this is still just dx9. come spring next year when quite a few new games are coming out that use dx10 and you'll see how different they are.
all in all, though, a big kudos and thanks to the eve dev team for such a massive graphical rework. the difference in the looks and feel of the game are like going from HW to HW2
