Edited by: Maltitol on 08/11/2007 23:20:06 goto each planet, and re-scan, set your scan res to something low, say 0.5 au's (putting in 99999999999 will automatically go down to 2.1 something which is 2.1 au's_... if it shows a tower, its on a moon close by.. warp to each one... be carefull you dont get pwnd by the tower guns.. best to use covops m8

You can narrow down which moon it is at by using your ship scanner as well. All the moons are positioned around planets at slightly different distances. Moon 1 is closest I think, Moon 2 being a bit further away, and so on. So you warp to a planet and then set the distance on your scanner to something very small and pick 360 degrees scan. Scan everything and adjust the distance so that you pick up only the first moon on it. Make sure you have POS towers enabled on your overview so that you will pick on up on scanner. After you pick up the first moon, see if you also pick up a tower. If not, increase the distance and do 360 scan again. This time you'll pick up a 2nd moon (or may be even 3rd and 4th, depending on if you increased the distance by too much). If tower doesn't show up means it is not at those moons. Increase your scan a bit more and continue doing 360 scans. Eventually you'll pick up a tower. This way you do not have to warp to every single moon but can use your ship scanner to localize the tower to a particular moon.

If ranges overlap too much, switch to 90 degree scans once you determined the distance of the tower and turn to each moon within that range until you isolate the moon in question. Then park your ship in a safespot and visit the moon with your pod (automatic defenses never target pods).

Best you can do is make several overview saves;
- control tower, planets - control tower, planets, moons
With control tower + planets, you can do a quick scan and it will immediately show you the number of POS in your scan range, using planets you can figure out which planets you still have to visit to get a full system 'coverage'.
For locating a POS, do the 360 scan, if you get a hit change range to something like 200,000,000 km to see if it's at the current planet, if so go to the next step. if not and there's more planets in scan range narrow down your scan angle and check if they're at any of the other planets. When found warp to that planet.
When at the correct planet change scan range to 200,000,000 or something similar. Do a 360 scan to make sure how many POS there are. Now switch to the +moons setting. If that planet just has a few moons narrow down the angle, select one of the moons on the overview and scan in it's direction, do that for all moons at that planet. If it has a ton of moons switch to 180 degrees angle, then scan, then switch to 90 degrees to narrow em down again. If a planet has like 20 moons and you're down to 90 degrees you're probably left with 5 possible hits, then single check those moons left. Make sure you have accounted for ALL moons at the planet.
If you're in a covert ops you can now warp to the moon at 100km and have a look. What you can also do is, when at the planet, set angle to 5 degrees, limit range so you'll only getting that POS and then untick the 'use overview settings' box. If you scan now you get all the stuff that's at that POS.

Fastest way is to jump in your pod and fly to each moon. This also works with a cloaked covert ops ship. POS Guns won't fire on your pod so you're safe.

Unless of course the owner of the POS anchored a GSC at the warp in spot, causing your CovOps to decloak and go BOOM! |

This is how some corpmates and I got a free Moa, so make sure you leave your ship in station if you're going to do this.
