It took a while to get a functional Mac version of the game ready for release on the current platform, what happens once Trinity is released and all of the graphics change?
Will we update along with the windows version, or will we lag behind in releases?

I'm expecting the mac client to be behind of the windows one by atleast 2-3 months, but I havn't see anything official posted about it so who knows. |

I remember reading something about a definite delay, but can't remember whether it was in a dev blog or some other article on the macuser web site. |

From the DevBlog announcing Mac Client
Q. Will EVE: Trinity be supported on the Mac and Linux platforms? A. The Mac and Linux clients will not initially support the upgraded content but will support the Classic client. TransGaming are already working on the new features needed in the underpinning technology (the Shader Model 3 stuff) to be able to support the EVE Premium client and are targeting having support in place early next year but this is still in the early stages. We will keep you informed where this is at and what our expected delivery is for this support.

So, as a new subscriber I don't quite get the implications of this. What does it mean?
- Will we be able to continue to play alongside Trinity PC players?
- If the above is true, what limitations will we have compared to the Trinity players?
Please enlighten a newbie. ;)

I havn't read alot about Trinity but from what I understand is it is mostly a big cosmetic upgrade due to a new graphics engine. Any gameplay changes should be patched into the Mac client at the same time as PC, we just have to wait a few months to see the eye candy that the new graphic engine provides.
So unless your playing ONLY to look at the graphics, it shouldn't be a problem for you. |

When the new client is released, it will come in 2 flavours, Classic and Premium.
When you first connect to the server after the patch you will be Patched to EVE:Trinity Classic (which will run for the Mac and Linux platforms as well). If you are running windows and have the system requirements to run EVE:Trinity Premium then you will be given the option to download the upgrade.
We are working with TransGaming and the Premium Client will be available on the Mac and Linux Platforms but at a later date (we are hoping Early next year).
So to answer your question. We will still allow you to play on the Mac, Linux and older windows platforms you will have all the same Functionality, but not the enhanced graphics (object models).
I hope that answers.

Thanks for the info. Sad, but better than nothing. We have faith that you guys are doing your best to make it happen. Thanks again. Looking forward to a real Mac client in a couple years. ;-)
Cheers
