Hello there. Wondering if we can start a thread to see who uses what tactics for ratting in 0.0. If you can share your wizdom it would be nice. My main interest lies with trying to predict the impossible, faction and officer spawns. The latest rumor I heard is belts with wrecks have a lesser chance of spawning faction. True, False? Share your knowledge boyz. Also if a dev can share some wizardly here it would be extremely helpful. Muchas gracias in advance!

Seems to me that constellations which aren't frequented often (probably because they have crappy rats) often have more faction spawns.

One of the rumors I heard is that you have a much higher chance of faction spawns right after downtime. I myself have only seen faction spawns soon after downtime, so I think there is some truth to this. The theory is that each system is only alloted a single faction spawn a day (or X number a day, only the devs know...), so if you can reach a spawn before anyone else, you actually have a chance that you will get a faction spawn.

wow theres some awful complicated theories to simple things....
Of course there more faction spawns after downtime.... they can only spawn when another spawn is killed or when the spawns are reset by downtime... so most bad systems the only chance of ever finding good spawns is those that spawn at downtime before anyone else notices em... since no one bothers to rat there more never pop...

Faction spawns seem totally random and i doubt anyone really knows for sure how it works...I am sure the ones that are very clued up on the best places to catch them won't be giving any secrets away on the forums though ^^ Apparently the best places to find the officers are in their home systems but thats only what i have heard...never seen one myself. You do get high sec faction rats too but they are generally pretty crap, although the last one i found in a 0.5 system dropped a LG Slave implant which was a bit of a shock as its usually just faction ammo from those lesser spawns.

interesting stuff, some of it i've heard before. seems to me that EU folks have a greater chance of getting faction then because of downtime occuring in their time zones.
i've had multiple true sansha spawns and even an officer spawn at evening eastern standard time, trying to find a clue how to get more spawns.

I got two faction spawns today and a few people rat in the system I'm in (a 0.2 system btw) so I think faction spawns are just complete randomness..
But when you get a good one.. oh yeah...
-----sig-starts-here------ I survived Armageddon Day. I'm just too lazy to put a picture of a nuke in here. |
