Hey all, i thought i would document my initial problems with the new client for mac. If anyone knows any workarounds to these please let me know:
- Pressing escape in fullscreen or windowed mode crashes EVE (pressing escape in an attempt to access the options).
- Ships and Station textures severely broken, as in, they don't show up or just totally spaz out (for lack of a better phrase).
- Random crashes on connection to game, unpredictable in both windowed and fullscreen modes.
- Severely bad framerates on the new macbook with x3100 144mb gpu (25 in station, i fear to undock).
Please ccp & transgaming, fix these problems as soon as possible. This client has been released prematurely. I expected better :(.

while i can feel your pain...
have you read the system requirements? intel graphic chips aren't supported (yet).

This is the thing though.. the new x3100 is a very nice gpu (for an integrated chipset). I've seen eve run in bootcamp well on the old macbook (intel950...ish).
So i mean it should be running nicely, but it doesnt. So meh.
Anyway the problems shouldn't be macbook exclusive. Considering how well it ran on my old laptop of a lesser speed.
I guess i'll wait for some patching fun then!

Yes, that's what we are saying. You bought a budget computer. If you bought a Windows PC with a budget vid card you might not be able to play a new game, no matter what the rest of your specs are. Macs are no different. This is a new solution for Macs and is bound to have problems, but is also probably going to get better.
That being said, it runs OK on my unsupported 4-month old MacBook with integrated graphics so keep trying different settings. But please save your indignation for something that truly warrants it. You bought a cheap vid card and that is not CCP's fault.

The problem is that Apple doesn't have anything close to Window's Direct X API. Since Apple uses Open GL, it takes a huge hit in graphics compared to Windows systems. So what will work on Windows won't necessarily work on Macs with Integrated graphic chips.
